      Favourite Computer Game As A Kid

      And, if you're as old as me, what was your computer?

      I first had a Amstrad CPC 464 then had a Commodore64.

      Favourite game was probably Last Ninja 2. That stands out the most.

      I had one of them Atari VCS things with the minty controllers.

      Remember Donkey Kong on it and something about Tutankhamen.

      Had a 48k Sinclair Spectrum, then the 128k one with the built in tape - remember Football Manager fondly.

      Then moved on to the Amiga 500+ in 1991 and the exciting world of Lemmings and Lotus Turbo Challenge

      Then I got an Amiga 1200 - which I remember was £399 (a fortune back then - and still now I suppose).

      My favourites on here were Project X and this is where the whole Championship Manager (now FM) began.

      After being a computer nerd I was a bit late getting in to consoles and missed the Master System, SNES thing, although I did play on a mates MegaDrive.

      Since then at about the time I was becoming a student and banks start throwing money at you - I had a PlayStation (Tomb Raider), PlayStation 2 (Metal Gear Solid, Grand Theft Auto, Pro Evo), Nintendo 64 (GoldenEye - Super Mario 64), Sega Dreamcast (Waste of money) and now a PlayStation 3. I've got a PSP too but don't use it much.

      I am such a geek.

      Was quite in to Frontier: Elite II on the Amiga.

      Yeah RK I remember Bits and Bytes and definitely that one on Lime Street - fairly sure it used to be about £15 for a Spectrum game... Made me all reminiscent now.  Need to go on eBay!

      Yeah, I'm sure they used to have a bargain section in the middle of the shop floor and the games were about a fiver?

      Gonna have a look on Ebay myself to see how much the C64's are going for. Still got loads of games in the loft!  ;)

      Rampage was a brilliant game which kept me occupied for ages!

      Upon finding these pics, I found a newer version which I might buy for a laugh!

      Then there's the best game I've ever played! Final Fantasy 7! I still haven't finished it yet (similarto your reason Court, I simply don't want to!)

      Love it! 8)

      First computer was a Sinclair ZX81,
      Technical Specifications: (taken directly from the Operating Supplement)

          * Depth: 167 mm (6.32 in)
          * Height: 40 mm (1.57 in)
          * Weight: 350 grams (12.15 oz)
          * CPU: Z80Z at 3.25 MHz
          * ROM: Containing 8k BASIC interpreter
          * RAM: 1K byte internal, externally expandable to 16K bytes
      Display:
          24 lines x 32 characters (text)
          64 x 44 pixels in graphics mode

      then an Apple II.....

      then the old trusty Commodore 64 with the walk thru games, no graphics...
      I can still remember looking in total AWE the first time I saw a colour screen at the University on an excursion...
      and getting excited when I upgraded my hard drive to 10meg and ram from 4 to 8meg, ah the power...
      most of the games I had were downloaded from a buliten board (pre world wide web, no graphcs)
      but I digress....

      the best game without a doubt would have to be Doom (the original)
      this was just so far ahead of anything else for its generation,
      the first "First person shooter" game,
      first with "3D Graphic's"etc etc....
      first with "multiplayer networking" etc etc....

      I still have my first copy of it on "10 inch floppy disks" (but cant get a 10 inch floppy drive anywhere...)
      as well as the " 5 1/4 inch" version....

      so, to sum up my distracted waffle, DOOM....!!

      Noticed on another thread people ralking about their old computers and comsoles, so I thought I'd give this thread a bump for people who hadn't seen it! :D

      For me, the first computer I had was a Spectrum 48K, and it's still the one I probably had the most fun out of! :D The games (on cassette - easy to copy!) were often utterly insane and completely impossible. Great ones were of course Manic Miner, Jet Set Willy, Rainbow Isla, nds, SKooldaze, Dynamite Dan, all the Dizzy games, all the Monty Mole games... Here's a link to the top 100 games ever for the Speccy, for those who want to reminice :D:

      http://www.worldofspectrum.org/ystop100.html

      After that, had a Commodore Amiga A500+ or something like that! ;) After the Speccy this was like having an arcade machine in your living room! :D Full colour, proper sound, "quick loading" disks, and (grat stuff!) still easy to copy games! Loads of brill games there too: Blood Money, Speedball 2, Kick Off 2, Sensible Soccer, Lotus Turbo Challenge, Alien Breed, Flashback, Syndicate... Top 100 here:

      http://www.warblade.as/feature01.html

      Then had a Playstation 1 and 2, too many great games to list, though a big up to the Resident Evil saga of games, still going strong, and the Final Fantasy saga too! CRK is right, FF7 is one of the best games EVER!

      Now I've got the Nintendo Wii, and it's alright I suppose! :D

      Sensible Soccer was superb.  I bought one of those arcade sticks that you just plug in to your tele with it on and it was superb.

      Cannon Fodder was another Amiga favourite of mine.

      Championship Manager 4. Was addicted to it.

      Fifa 97 as well with the indoor games.

      Smackdown! 1 was a classic at the time, I've gone off wrestling since (thankfully) but that game was boss. Graphics absoloutely awful looking back.

      That game kicked arse so much! :D I was the one on it, I used to go King and use the never ending grapple combo. Once you landed that it was game over! :D

      Smackdown! 2 was the best! Hell in the Cell matches! :D
