A very short term measure but we need numbers in this department

      Why is it highly unlikely?

I'd guess his wages are way over our 'performance related' pay structure.

Because we are apparently after a loan deal and he has played every game bar one this season for them.

If it's truly just cover for Lucas though, maybe they'd decide to bite the bullet on that to get someone in here that's a capable fill in?

Pass. M'Vila or Fernando please both are improvements on Lucas which is what we need not just cover.

I don't like him, and he's too dirty for my taste. But he is a solid DM.

He's supposed to be on 50k a week at Milan.

Like I said in another thread we could do a lot worse but also we could do much better if we showed a bit more ambition.

We should be looking for someone who is much better tahn what we have already and who will take someone's place in the first team.

Not someone just to cover Lucas now that he has got injured.

Seems like its every year that lucas misses an extended period of time because of injury. Hopefully we'll shell out the cash for m'vila now that dm is a bigger necessity

Find it hard to believe that Seedorf will let De Jong go by the way, especially not on loan. He started him this week in his first game. And Milan has no money for incoming transfers, so they need him.

It would be very strange to let a regular starter go on loan in January.

Whether or not we sign this lad does not alter the fact that we urgently need quality cover for Lucas, as we do for a multitude of key areas.
The longer JWH & Co remain oblivious to our predicament and refuses to confront the issue the harder it will be to make any tangible difference to a ever-increasing problem.

I don't think it's much to do with ambition so much as convenience. January is more of a top up month than an overhaul period. If he does the job until the Summer I'll be happy with him on a loan. Then we can look for more ambitious targets then.
