Mate are you taking the piss?! Austria and Australia are on opposite sides of the world and nowhere near each other.
My 8 year old brother knows that.
Austria is pretty close to Australia in many ways:
- the spelling of their names (in English anyway) - which is what I meant to begin with
- the amount of beer they consume per capita
- their love of days off work (38 days per year for Austria, as many as you like in Oz if you work for the government)
- Austria gave the world Mozart, Australia gave the world 'Men at Work'
- Sigmund Freud comes from Austria , Steve Irwin comes from Australia
and most importantly, George W. Bush can't tell the two of them apart!
So there you have it, definative proof that Austria is close to Australia, not geographically, but in all the ways that count.
As for the geography bit, I'm well aware of the spatial (and timezone differences), cause all my friends back home still haven't figured out after 6 years of trying that if they call me at what they consider a reasonable hour of the day, it will be the middle of the night for me.
