Stoke begin talks with Liverpool over winger Oussama Assaidi

Stoke have opened talks with Liverpool over signing on-loan winger Oussama Assaidi on a permanent basis.

The Morocco international, 25, has spent the season at the Britannia Stadium and has made 24 appearances in all competitions for the Potters, scoring four goals.

"There's been tentative enquiries," said Stoke boss Mark Hughes.

"We like Ossie and if we could come to an arrangement with Liverpool we would like to bring him here."

Assaidi joined Liverpool from Dutch side Heerenveen in 2012 but made just four substitute appearances in the Premier League for the Reds before moving to Stoke in August.
Hughes added: "He's done really well here. It's certainly helped him and Ossie's certainly helped us."

Any profit on him is decent. Mind-boggling transfer for us, though.

At least he's been getting game time and hopefully something can be worked out for him.  Weird signing from us but that's football.

We got him for 2mil, hopefully we can sell for 4

if it's true than good luck to the lad.

Good luck to him, he never really got much of a chance at Liverpool, but Stoke is probably about right for his level.

Be nice to get enough profit to pay for new contracts for some players so transfer money can be spent on actual transfers.

I wouldn't mind it but it doesn't matter what I think. He won't play and there's a club willing to offer us a sum for him. Seems logical to let him go.

He has looked ok when I have watched him play for Stoke. And that goal against Chelsea....

Great signing for the price. Ability to carry the ball and has hit some crucial (and amazing) goals.

If we had played him instead of Moses I think he would have taken his chances far better and we could have tied up the title by now. IN that case he would have been the bargain of the century

They are losing Arnautovic as his loan also ended, so naturally they'll look to add a couple attackers.

When your attack is Walters, Crouch, Odemwingie and Cameron Jerome you need all the help you can get.

From the Telegraph so safe to say it seems creditable. Would be an excellent deal for the club. Basically doubled what we paid without him barely getting a game for us.

EDIT: Damm you Vicks. Beat me!

Hope the lad gets his move and does well.
He never gave less than 100% for us, the few times he played (that I saw anyway), so good luck to him.

They are losing Arnautovic as his loan also ended, so naturally they'll look to add a couple attackers.

Arnautovic wasn't on loan - he signed a permanent deal with stoke last summer, I believe in the last year of his contract with Werder Bremen. They paid just a couple million for him.

£7 million? That's a great deal! Remember, we only paid £2-3m for Assaidi. Wasn't going to get much time here, so good deal for everyone around, including Stoke.

Potential? Probably meaning a mutually agreed base fee with further amounts released pending appearances/goals/cup involvement etc..etc.
