Bet my house that we will not finish first. A little transition we are going through here, and we'll now have the rigours of CL football and if improved, more games in the domestic cups.

      1. Chelsea (they'll walk it)
      2. Arsenal (if they avoid another injury crisis)
      3. Manchester City (can see them dropping off)
      4. Liverpool/Utd (depends on signings)

Cannot decide between fourth. As it stands we need to improve our attack and replace LS - if so, I'm confident we can get fourth or even better. If Utd fail to sign any tops players (Vidal and Hummels) then I think they may struggle. Their advantage is less games than us, and a very good manager.

CL is new territory for BR, so he's going to have to manage his squad differently. Can we go from 2nd to 1st after more games and the departure of LS? No, it's just not going to happen just yet.

Why Chelsea 1st? Well, they've made exactly the signings they need, and they have Mourinho who knows how to win ugly.

Well the first 3 are pretty easy to predict
      1-Man city
      2-Chelsea
      3-Man utd ( a clever manager , no CL football )
4- Arsenal or Liverpool ( I think arsenal will start great again but as soon as someone injured they will fall , for us we need not to lose points and have a great start) .
I would also predict that Everton and spurs will battle hard for the 4th place as well .
It's not gonna be easy if we fail to bring any striker and left thing until January I could easily see us in the 5th place trying to battle for a 4th place .

We didn't lose the league until the last match, and the game you're thinking of we played Chelsea at home.

Yea i know that. But what i am saying is that it was man city's title to lose after that day .Same 3rd last fixture against the chelski that too at their home.Would be ironic if we win there.

Sorry mate but I'm trying to look at this logically instead of emotionally. We've got six more games at the absolute minimum, maybe eight if we qualify from our CL group. We also didn't progress well in the Carling Cup or Fa Cup so I am expecting us to again play at least two or three more games in those competitions. We could be looking at 10+ games easily next season, and that means the continuity in team selection will not be there. We will have to shuffle around more, and maybe even rest some key players due to fatigue (and that could cost us points). So this is just another hurdle, not to mention the departure of our best player and arguably the worlds best striker.

On the plus side - Coutinho may well improve, as may Sterling, as may Sturridge. And then we've got our new signings - Can, Lallana and Markovic. For now I wouldn't want to say they'll improve us significantly in the short term. They'll need time to settle into the team and adjust to the fast pace of the PL.

We are still ahead of schedule. I know anything other than 1st is not acceptable in most peoples eyes, but lets not forget - we consolidate a top four position this season and have a good run in Europe, then many decent players will be taking note. Signing players like Sanchez and Reus then seems as easy as signing Mascherano and Torres.

In my opinion the above would be good progress. Finishing 5th would be disastrous (unless we won CL).

If we don't find a reasonable replacement for Suarez/backup for Sturridge we may very well be struggling to win the league and without knowing injuries and such, it's really impossible to tell. Obviously best case scenario is 1st, but that for me would take a couple more key signings and no injury issues this season. If we have some injuries and don't get another striker for instance, I think finishing 2nd again will be tough and 4th may be a battle as well.

I think Everton and United are going to battle for the top 4 this year with United missing out but Everton making some waves. It's going to be a rollercoaster ride, that's for sure.

      I think you misunderstand me.

I'm not surprised they predicted us 5th.

Not a chance those mancs will finish in the top four.

If we can land Falcao then I really think we can win the league, even if we don't I see us comfortably in top 4. I just can't see United as a real challenge, not over the course of a whole season.

I think Liverpool, Spurs, the mancs and Everton will all be fighting for the last CL spot. I think that if we don't buy a good striker we could easily finish back in 6th if Sturridge is out for a while.

If we get a good striker and with the strengthening we have already made to the squad, I think we will finish top 4, probably fighting with Arsenal for that 3rd spot.
