Didn't think Gerrard could have played so effectively after an away Champions League tie. Was still running players down late in the game and to good effect. Pushing him ahead into the #10 late on was a good call.

Hendo and Lallana were just brilliant. Hard to choose between the two for MOTM.

And Burnley just equalized against Leicester. So we are 6th on the table instead of 7th. :D

Johnson just had the best 30 minutes of football he has played in the last 12 months.

Was thinking the same, it was good to see

Rodgers pretty much got it right today.

Would go with this in a fortnights time :

                             Mignolet
      Johnson  Skrtel  Lovren Moreno
                              Gerrard
                     Hendo        Coutinho
        Sterling      Sturridge      Lallana

Apart from that, pretty much spot on. Johnson needs to come back in desperately - Manquillo has been F***ing sh*t lately. Offered absolutely F**k all in defence and attack. Attacking wise, yeah we all know he's sh*t, but it was "The Chosen One" style sh*t - all he does is hug the touchling and get a (sh*t) cross in.

Johnson showed nice touches, turned inside, offered coherency to attacks - must not understimate his attacking play, even his defensive play was good today.

On that display I would start Johnson ahead of Manquillo. Not really that impressed with the young Spaniards. Predictable.

Think some are a bit harsh on Manquillo I don't think he was expected to start games so soon. But yes even though I have been a big critic of Johnson last few months I thought he was excellent when he came on like a throwback to this golden years. He will start the next game.

3 points to Hendo and Lallana. Some good phases of play and we can only hope the players begin to mould back into their form.

Lucas coming on gave me a f**king heart attack - and sure enough, showed how f**king sh*t he was. Please god I am begging you to bring back Allen and Can.

Johnson? Massive well done to him - Manquillo was f**king F***ing sh*t! The Spaniard is givena  free ride on this forum, I'd start Johnson in the next game - he cuts inside, offers numbers in attack. Manquillo? All he f**king does is hug the touchline and cross balls like David F***ing Moyes is his manager. Manquillo - sh*t. Start Johnson next game.

      Where's Allen?

All I can say is Phew, we really really needed that win. We were clearly the better side but our attack again lacked fluency, until Stevie G was pushed further forward and Balotelli replaced Lambert who remains utter crap, sorry but he just is.

I thought it was a fairly solid team performance though and the movement and confidence seems to be coming back. As soon as we get Sturridge and Allen back I think we will start seeing the goals going in but the most important thing was the 3 points today.

Great result. 3 points is just what the doctor recommended.

Our performance wasn't brilliant but it wasn't poor either i don't think. At times we showed positive movement up top with a couple of neat passes here and there. If we conceeded again it would have looked a lot different. But there were positives in that performance.

Moreno - bundles of energy and does really bring something to our attack once he gets going.

Lallana - Looked so slick and skilfull today, most of our great play came through him and i thought he was easily our MOTM and took his goal so well.

Henderson - Worked hard was able to push forward due to Coutinho being deeper and he made a couple of great runs and looked promising, like Lallana took his goal well.

Gerrard - looked a completelty different player once he was pushed up the field, looked like he really wanted to be on the ball and be positive, made a couple of nice passes, him and Balotelli seemed to link very well.

Balotelli - Looked positive to me, was strong in hold up play and was more aware then usual today in his passes, looked to put Sterling through a couple times and linked up well with Gerrard on 2 occasions with 2 good shots being saved. For me brought more than Lambert instantly.

Unfortunately Lambert, Sterling, Lovren and Manquillo were all disapointing today.

Lambert - Too slow, can play a neat pass here and there but isn't direct enough for me and doesn't seem to show any real threat.

Sterling - Burnt out, his just running and running with no real composure, when the ball was at his feet he seemed uneasy and not in control.

Lovren - Too rash, made poor decisions today and didn't look confident at all.

Manquillo - Did well to get high up the pitch, work rate good but he lost the ball a few times and could have been less wasteful in possession, but i saw nothing from Johnson in his cameo to suggest he is a better RB, so i would stick with the spanish youngster.

All in all glimpses of our great attacking prowess without Suarez but we need to show more bite up top and need to be a lot more stern in defense.

IN all seriousness if we can get the same kind of fluency back as we had last season then there's no reason why we can't win the league BUT we still need a lot more accuracy and precision, plus a few decent strikers in addition to Sturridge and to a certain extent Balotelli.
