What are Simon's wages? He plays like he is on <£50,000/week.

He deserves to be fined every penny

Difficult to call MOTM for me as we were bad, don't think there was any real stand out performances. Nevertheless, we got the win away from home, so I'm happy :D

      At 50k a week, I expect better, don't you mean, 5k/week?

We got the points but there is still a lot of work to do at the training ground. The last thing I want is to have players who couldn't care less whether we win or lose today, and just want to make it home immediately.

Clean sheet and 3 points, can't comment on the performance because my stream was sh*t.

But who cares about the performance, 3 points is 3 points!

      My ratings:

Jones: Was injured so couldn't kick it or dive for any shots apparently. That said, having watched the full 90 minutes I fully understand why we took a risk on him. 3/10.

Sakho: I thought he was our best player and MOM, defended well and did little wrong. 7/10

Skrtel: Dodgy at first but got better. Along with the rest of the defenders deserves a pat on the back as they were swamped by Burnley yet kept a clean sheet. 6/10.

Toure: Plays as well as you can expect a squad filler freebie. 5/10.

Markovic: Poor on the day, never got into it. 4/10.

Henderson: Ran around a lot, achieved little. 4/10.

Lucas: Saved us a goal by sticking his leg out, stuck to his task. 5/10.

Gerrard: Poor on the day, did though hit a couple of lovely passes. 5/10.

Lallana: Outmuscled and outfought early on, stuck to his task and gradually came into it. 5/10.

Coutinho: Lovely pass for the goal and a couple of trademark dribbles. Looked lightweight though (probably because he is I suppose). 5/10.

Sterling: A little greedy and disinterested at times, but a good finish for the goal. 6/10.

      Subs:

Mignolet: A truly staggering performance. In all my years watching football I've never seen anybody do what he did when he conceded the corner. He looks to me like he's got the yips or something, and on the evidence of that appearance he is a complete liability. 0/10.

Can: Thought he did well when he came on. If he can actually play centre half (and it looks like he is able to) then he ought to play in front of Kolo IMHO. 6/10.

Lambert: We played far better when he came on, and that's his job. 6/10.

Overall performance: Really really poor. Very fortunate to get the win. 3/10.

Got a a job to believe we won that.
Do the players actually believe in what the manager is asking them to do.
Seems there's a level of disbelief in the players, and a huge lack of confidence in the keepers.

No excuses, we were very, very poor today but I'd sooner win playing this badly than draw like we did last week playing as well as we did against Arsenal. At the end of the day, points determine finishing position, not performances.

Really glad Can came on to add a bit of muscle and aggression along with Sakho, probably would have lost otherwise wih our lightweight team.

How awful were Gerrad and Lucas that was his worse performance all season.................. .maybe a few too many stuffing balls had over Xmas.

Mignolet making sure he is sold in January!!

as for your stream , well you were a bit lucky with your stream  not being OK, you would not have liked it apart from the sterling goal

Get in, 3 points in the bag and a decent second half.

Thought Can was excellent and should be starting at DM.
Lallana had a good game and works like a horse for the team.
Sterling took his goal well. Still not at his best but a vital goal and good work rate.
Stevie and Hendo were both very disappointing. Hendo kicking the ball out for a throw in summed up his game. The boy also seriously needs to work on his crossing.
Coutinho, not at his best, but still played well I thought.
Sakho looks more assured than both Slrtl and Lovren. Apart from one misplaced pass in the end, he passed the ball out of defence well.
Thought Lambert also did well when he came on.
Migs scares the sh*t out of me every time he's on the ball. Letting the ball go out for a corner? What da f###?

But, got 3 points without playing well and that's important. I'd like to see Can start ahead of SG and Sakho again at the back. Onwards and upwards. Two very winnable games coming up.

I think BR has changed everybody's style of play. Could still take time for all the parts to function together except for keepers.

MotM was a tough one for me. Can was excellent when he came on, Sakho was generally solid throughout the game - and credit has to be given to our defence. However, Lallana was constantly working throughout the game, always trying to create something or working to regain possession so I gave it to him.
Sterling was good for his goal, as was Coutinho for creating it.

A little unfair, he did keep a clean sheet, and he was entertaining as well.

Serious question.  Do we even have one position that we can say is solid and we do not need to improve on?

Personally, I am struggling to think of one..
