      As we thought... :(

      TORRES INJURY BLOW
      Steve Hunter 29 October 2007
      http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/drilldown/N157487071029-1303.htm

Liverpool have been dealt a blow with the news that Fernando Torres has been ruled out of action for three weeks with an adductor injury.
A Liverpool spokesman said: "A scan this morning has shown a tear to a different adductor muscle to his original injury and we expect Fernando to be out for about three weeks.

"As for Xabi Alonso, an x-ray showed a fracture to the fourth metatarsal in his left foot. Xabi will be seen by a consultant tomorrow after which we will have a much better idea of the timescales involved.
"With regards to Javier Mascherano, he had an x-ray which has showed no bone injury, but he will receive intensive treatment on extensive bruising in his foot."

Bad news - 1 month out - they won't rush him back this time...

Babel up-front maybe? Worth a whirl... would try it out versus Cardiff.

Sounds like it.  Wasn't there a miracle surgeon (ultra-fast recovery) out there somewhere (Owen went to her/him) ... like a Midas tyres while-u-wait jobby... but for groins!

Feel for Fernando. At least his english can come on now... as the song says ....always look on the bright side of groin-strains!!!!

Babel up front it will have to be....this lad would play anywhere at the moment, he needs to play some football....
As for el nino, i feel for you...and very best wishes with your recovery...
As for Xabi, very much like wise...and once again, you will be missed very much....this gives young Lucas his time to step up, and show what his made of....im sure, he'll deliver!!!
This will test the depth our squad greatly...

Just seen on Lfc news that he will be back in 2 weeks for the fulham match and they were saying if he plays there, then Spain will want him ( risk injury), so leave him out this game and give him a full four week recovery to which I agree fully.

We all know how much pressure national squads put on clubs though.

We shouldn't expect the Spanish federation to treat us any different to the dear old FA.

I just hope he comes back fit and well... and full of goals!

Blydi hell that's 3 injuries in 1! All from Arsenal game?! Bruising and fracture should heal quick(ish), unless Xabi's is really really bad fracturing, but Torres's muscle is bad :(

You know what I was thinking earlier. We're always like "ohhh no [player] is injured what are we gonna do?!" but imagine the pain they are in.. tearing a muscle.. ouch, fracture? Gotta hurt. :(

I guess Kuyt and Crouch will start with wonder-kid Babel and Lucas holding down the left side of the midfield. Gerrard and Benayun hold the centre and right. Where is Agger?

Agger is still out injured and is at least two weeks away from being in contention.

Bless your cotton socks! Bet you wouldn't mind nursing them better though eh Nic... ;)
Part and parcel of football. Sure the pain is less hurtful when they score a goal or pick up their wages....

Aparently Torres is fully fit now. However I don't believe this, he should be given another rest because we don't want to strain his injury... even if he says he feels fine.. the injury can be brought back if he's not 100% yes 100% healed!

There is no doubt we have the capability to start hitting the net without Torres because of earlier successes this season whilst he was out injured. This injury to Torres should spur Robbie on and hopefully he will start banging in the goals.

      From the BBC....

Liverpool striker Fernando Torres looks set for an increased injury lay-off because of a damaged hamstring.

Torres, 24, had been expected to be out of action for two weeks but has now been told by specialists that he will be out for at least four weeks.

The Spaniard suffered the injury during the Champions League victory against Marseille at Anfield on 26 November.

"We first said two to three weeks but do not want to put a time on it now," said Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez.

"He will come back when he is ready. We will not rush him back.

"We want to resolve this problem once and for all and we will make sure we do that."
