a signing like rush comes good from a club like chester to a club like liverpool once every 50 years..plus this isn't 1980s football anymore
Don't be such a dope.
Roger Hunt came from Stockton Heath, even lesser known than Chester, and was signed in 58. Rush signed in 80. 50 years in between? Nah.
Billy Liddell came from Lochgelly Violet, even lesser known than Chester, and was signed in 38. Rush signed in 80. 50 years in between? Nah.
Kevin Keegan came from Scunthorpe, probably slightly ahead of Chester now - maybe not back then, and was signed in 71. Rush signed in 80. 50 years in between? Nah.
Actually, it was common place to find absolute gems from the lower leagues back when football was a sport and not a business. In fact Liverpool's best XI of all time would all come from "mickey mouse" clubs, with the exception of Dalglish - depending on how highly you rate Celtic.
Nowadays though, we sign somebody from Burnley and he's written off before he's kicked a ball. Ah well, RIP football. It was a great pleasure knowing you as a sport.
