This season the players we can’t afford to be losing are Alisson, Virgil and Gomez so it’s a massive blow to have lost one of them at a critical time with games against Napoli, Mancs, Arsenal and City.
Clyne suddenly becomes critical to us now that Gomez is out as he'll be the backup to Arnold. At CB we are covered well enough between Lovren and Matip, though it comes of the risk of injury since neither one is very durable, but if Clyne is not ready to go we'd have no backup to Arnold and that'd be an issue with such crowded schedule coming up.
How does Clyne suddenly become critical for us? Gomez has only filled in at RB for Trent on a few occasions and given the fact that Clyne very rarely even makes the match day squad, it will more than likely be Fabinho that fills in at RB if and when it’s needed.
Clyne isn’t an option, except for maybe the FA Cup.
