Love the guy, looks to have the right mentality

Not sure he's a legend though, and more to the point, I'm not sure he's got LFC blood running through his veins. I think he had 2 seasons with us? I could be wrong about that of course, but I was hoping for someone like Rush, Fowler, Hyppia, even a Molby or a Hamman.

I really like the bloke, as I imagine all reds do.

He's already beaten us as manager of Villa, has to count for something right? :D

To be honest his coaching / managerial career is a bit up and down, he got leeds in the play-off final but lost it and then got sacked the year later. If I was going to go for someone on personality then I can see a lot of traits in Gary Mac that I'd certainly want in a coach and his level of experience is decent for a first team coach.

I wouldn't say he's got LFC blood running through his veins but the affinity and connection he managed to get in just those few short years means I'd love to see him back with the club.

Stuff of legends that free-kick, absolutely love Houllier's reaction too, extremely heart warming (in a positive sense Gerard :D ) to see a manager react like that, of course when it's yours.

Hopefully it becomes a very good appointment. I was expecting a more defensive minded coach though.

It would be good if he brings the same success to us as a coach as he did when playing for us.

      Not a Legend?

He was massive reason for that treble cup winning team, everybody in that squad is a legend IMO.

Would be a great addition, knows his stuff, and loves LFC, and we don't have enough scots around anymore, When we have scots involved we win stuff.

Not sure if this is a good appointment (if it goes ahead) for me

He's been out of the game four years, not that means a lot, he probably still follows the game religiously, but I've just got a gut feeling he's been appointed with the heart ruling the head here. And first team coach demands a certain level of excellence; if he has his coaching badges, that's something I guess.

Not really been out of game that much, he worked with scotland national team (cant find anything offical, but sure he helped), and recently hs been commentating on scottish football for BT Sports. Best pundit and comentator by a mile on that. Will be sad to lose him, makes watching it much more bearable. ;D.

Even though I don't know the whole history of the guy, I like him a lot and he was world class, surely underrated too. Not with Liverpool that long, listen to him talk about us even now, he loves the club. Illogical slightly but I like the guy a real lot. Think he'll be a bright spark around the club. Not in a Holiday camp way in an optimistic attitude way. Plus he was world class.

Edited: I did repeat things on purpose.

Those couple of seasons around the turn of the century (yeah, that sounds wierd) he was an absolute rock and certainly helped a very young scouser called Stevie or something develop into the player he would become

If he can bring those cool, calm qualities to the dressing room and on the training pitch, then a very good addition.

And can the kop sing the "Gary Mac" song again ... remember singing it in Barcelona during a CL trip . Epic.

great bit of business an old pro who improved Gerrard as a player and can do the same for Hendo,Can,milner,Firmino, coutino.

he can also work on set pieces and teach and assist our midfielders in taking freekicks/pens etc so we dont just have one set person to take them all.

No probs. Im now not so sure about how much he was involved with scotland recently, might just have been turning up to help, nothing official.

But, but, but when did he coach in Europe?

F***ing love Gary Mc. Always talks highly of the club, very intelligent player and hopefully he can bring both his affections for the club and intelligence to the coaching staff. Another left field appointment as nobody was talking about him.
