      Rumoured team:

Mignolet – Clyne, Škrtel, Sakho (c), Moreno – Emre Can, Lucas – Firmino, Lallana, Coutinho – Benteke

Klopp is known of being ruthless and I think Milner isn't playing well enough.

I quite like the look of that team. I'm glad Milner isn't starting this one, he's a much more effective player coming off the bench as was the case at City.

Coutinho should also be on the bench... Tex in.

Yet... I blame him fully for our bad run of results so I'm with Clint on this one Billy. >:D

I also believe in fairies, unicorns, Santa, ghosts, all conspiracy theories and astrology (but admit I draw the line at God).

The game itself: a wee while back I posted a team which set up in [as anyone who has watch Dortmund will know is] Jürgen's favoured 4-2-3-1 formation. It had no place for James Milner. As such it would be of no surprise to me if the rumored line-up is accurate. I can see us score a few in this game.

      'Mon the Reds.  :scarf:

Hope Firmino is the one central with Benteke.

Pumped for this. Always an intriguing game against the Saints.

Got to stop Mane, he will be a threat that if we stop then I think we have a great chance of getting the win today.

I'm tired of waiting for Allen to show his quality. Allowing himself to be nutmegged against Rubin almost sent me into a wild flip-out. Doesn't make the bench in this game for me.

Can't kick off after two games in charge mate.

I'm not saying it's going to happen but if it does work out for Joe don't expect it right away.

Like the rumoured X1, if true looks like Jürgen favours taking the game to them and still retain the pressing we've seen recently, Saints will be very dangerous and pose a threat, so we need to be on top of our game,

We currently lie in 12th but with a win could be in 6th come 6pm, although I don't rate it as a must win game it's important we keep in touch with those vying for the top 4 spots, I think those above will drop points throughout the season, can't see anyone running away with it and believe the title will go down to the wire so it's vital we stay within a win or two of the 4th placed side,

I'm buzzing for this today, think we will win by the odd goal, but will be tough,

2-1 Mighty Reds, Benteke & Lallana bagging the goodies.

      Cmon Redmen !

It's another roll the dice game for me...
I hope over these last couple of days Jürgen has had them on shooting practice because our finishing has been woeful this season..
Coutinho needs to get a grip and go for it today...
If Lallana plays like he did the other night that'll help a lot...

If Studge plays that'll be a massive boost also...

Good luck boys... you're gonna need it..

It's not the manager I'm being impatient with though; I've been more patient than most when it comes to Allen but I look at the kid and try to see what's in his locker that could be brought out by man-management and can't help but think that the fat lady has sang. I love a tidy passer of the ball but at this level you've got to have more than that.

Lucas escapes the same judgement for me because of sheer calibre of the man, and his willingness to stick a boot into a game. Hes got grit and defensive vision, which Joe lacks. Top professional and a true red, but after ten years at it should be able to hit the target.

This is still a long term fix for Jürgen, so trying to be realistic about this. We don't have tonnes of goals in us at the moment so if we're to get three points here today I think a clean sheet is very important. We've seen improvements in the defence already but we still have those moments of madness. Sakho is a man reborn but Skrtel needs to step up. Clyne is well rounded but Moreno needs to improve on his defensive game. Can in midfield gives us the engine and support for the lads at the back and Lucas beside him keeps it tidy, and limits the balls that get into the final third.

After that it's as simple as banging in a few goals. That simple... Benteke, Origi, Coutinho, Milner, Lallana, Ibe and Firmino all need to start contributing in the goals department. If we're to go with one up top it has to be Benteke (provided he's fit enough). Origi has been thrown in at the deep end, and although he is not horrendous, he's not confident/natural enough at goal scoring at this moment. Southampton are well drilled so chances won't be easy to come by, we need to take the ones we do get. Bournemouth in mid-week may suit Origi better to start.

In the support roles, Coutinho has been poor, Firmino has been hampered by injury and adaptation to the english game. Ibe has suffered an understandable dip in form and confidence and Lallana, although he has not been playing badly, is just not clinical right now. Milner has been hit and miss but not a stick to beat him with, who in our squad hasn't been!

If we're going with one up top today I would go with Benteke with Milner, Lallana and Ibe behind him. It won't be pretty but it's a work man like attack that will be direct and aggressive.

The cautious optimist in me says 2-0. Benteke and Lallana. Take the first step today lads!

      Come On You Redmen!!! :scarf:
