Is it out? I have seen a screen shot and the GUI looks a bit lame.

I don't know to be honest. I remember when I had an iPhone, usually the newest upgrade to a new iOS meant problems with the wi-fi dropping. I've kept my iPhone4, might install the iOS7 when it comes out just to see what it's like.

I've gone Android anyways, Nexus 4. Last night was the first time I had a bit of trouble with it, but otherwise a much better phone than my (admittedly old) iPhone4.

      Believe it may be September.

I've still got my 3GS on iOS6, little slow, but still does very thing and more.

Website just says "fall" so no idea what the exact day will be.

I'm trading my IP4S for an S4 in a few weeks.

Apple have just fallen so far behind the competition now.

      Not got iTunes then?

Just asking, but in what way have they fallen behind?

I can't imagine what else a mobile 'phone can do.

Well for me, the speed of my iPhone to my Nexus, well there was no comparison. The Nexus won hands down. Now that could be related to the the age of the 2 phones, and the memory on both.

Little things like defaulting certain apps to contacts for various functions is a thing I like too, like for example I can set one contact to always be contactable on on WhatsApp or Viber for texts, and another for the stock messages, and likewise for phone calls. Or even opening links will always default to open in their native app, rather than a link which you then play for YouTube / Instagram etc.

Now don't get me wrong, I loved my iPhone4 and was very close to getting the 5, but since I got the N4, I'm even happier with what I bought. The fact you can't buy the Nexus4 here also adds to the feeling!  :P

All I can do is go off my personal experience.

I just felt a bit let down by the IP5, compared the the S4 (although not as attractive as the IP5)

I still love my iPhone, and yea you're right, what more can a phone do?  But we live in a time now where we can be picky and snobbish when it comes to minute details

      Screen

Nobody can argue that in its heyday the Apple iPhone 5's 4in Retina 326ppi screen was ground breaking... But since then other phone makers have risen to the challenge, HTC with its One and Nokia with its Lumia 920 releasing screens that match, if not beat the iPhone 5.

Since we only look at the screen, the S4's 5in full HD super Amoled 1920x1080 441ppi wins it for me.

      Battery

Both terrible - but we still compare them to the good old days of the 5110 :D

      Camera

On paper the S4 has better cameras, a 13MP rear and 2MP front... The Apple iPhone 5 by comparison boasts 8MP rear and 1.2MP front cameras.  So Samsung win that one

I'm not one of these people that hates Apple, have a mac, an iPhone and an iPad...  My music collection is too big to put it on an iPhone so I use my iPod...  The move away is hard only because of the app store, which I think is where people place a lot of loyalty in Apple.

I have iTunes and a Galaxy S2. By adding the free app, Easy Phone Tunes (sh*t name, I know), you can transfer music two and from your Android and iTunes on the pc, so it's not a major issue.

Well for me, the speed of my iPhone to my Nexus, well there was no comparison. The Nexus won hands down. Now that could be related to the the age of the 2 phones...

It's not that, mate. I was reading only yesterday that the iPhone 5 is the slowest of the top end smartphones and by some distance. In the review I read, they tested 7 handsets for tasks such as photo editing and the iP5 finished 7th. The Galaxy S4 worked twice as fast.

I'm not dead against Apple either and will happily look at the next model when I upgrade in Sept/Oct (the new iPhone is rumoured for mid Sept) but there are a hell of a lot of people blinded to what else is on offer by a belief that the iPhone is still the top dog, it's not and they need to act. Just look at their latest TV ads, no longer can they boast about having the best of anything, their adverts simply mention that a lot of people have iPhones! "Every day, millions of poeple take pictures with iPhones"
"Lots of people listen to music on their iPhones"
       :-\

They need to stop taking customers for granted and up their game, fast.

Ha, you youngsters, all about speed, the faster you go the quicker you fall. ;)

Seems to be an App issue not a 'phone issue. As for the battery, mine is still fine as long as there is a signal, if the signal is poor then it goes PDQ.

My screen is still fine after 3 years, the protector needs changing but where to get one?

Not that fussed about the MP of a camera, it's all about the lens, and to be fair the 3GS's is fine for a PC screen.

      But each to their own.

Exactly mate, that's all the phone game is about.

I have a friend who swears by Nokia.  All he's ever had, even when they just couldn't compete with the smart phone world.  Now he's the one that's laughing because the Lumia is pretty cool now.

Apple will release any old sh*t (*iPad mini*) and it will sell by the bucketload

I have a iPad mini, and it's boss, very similar to the phone. Love the size, and to be fair I think the normal iPad would be too big.

My brother has one. He dropped it and the touchscreen smashed to a point where it doesn't work.

Dropped many phones before and not once was the damage that bad. Don't go dropping it ;)

Using the HTC One myself. I've gone from HTC Desire -> Samsung Galaxy S2 -> HTC One X -> HTC 8X -> HTC One.

Can't fault it whatsoever, love it.
