It would appear he hasn't turned down the contract, according to a few sources (Sky, Athletic). Negotiations broke down primarily over wages, with Gini believing his wage should be closer to the top earners at the club. We seem to have misgivings about offering a 3-4 year deal on that high a wage. This is still up in the air it would seem, and made more complicated by the fact that the driving force behind Barca's interest, Koeman, is far from secure in his job ahead of the presidential elections later this month.
Not sure how this will end up to be honest.
