I don't know why he would when we could still comfortably field a 4-3-3.
I guess it's more about tactic than personnel, although Mane being out obviously affects everything.
Lovren in the Echo today basically confirms this is what we'll do vs. West Brom. I think it is partly because Hendo is out as our best option for a deeper-sitting midfielder. If he gets back in (and I'm afraid that is an "if" not a "when"), they may go back to 4-3-3.
So Sunday I'm thinking
Migs
Clyne, Matip, Klavan, Lovren, Milner
Can, Gini, Phil (reckon he's playing almost a free role in this - of course in JĆ¼rgen's system it's hard to pin down any of the forwards' positions)
Divock, Bobby
This is what Lovren said in the Echo:
āStoke is a similar team to West Brom with long balls, and we played the system (3 center backs) quite well in the second half,ā he said.
āI think itās a perfect mix for us - Matip in the middle, me on the right because Iām right-footed, and Raggy (Klavan) on the left because heās left-footed. Itās quite a good mix."
He likes it better than I do, but he would know by this point of the week what system they are practicing with for the match, so...looks like 3-5-2.
