Mate when is the last time we had a really good window?
All of our rivals are strengthening significantly.
We have signed one top player and a couple of young squad players.
This isn't enough to compete with our rivals over a full season.
I'm not saying failing to sign Keita specifically is the owners fault but failing to sign enough quality we need most certainly is their fault.
Also their media approach to players is embarrassing.
All of our rivals signed their targets with minimal media speculation where our approach to signings is a media circus.
Also FSG's fault.
Well out of the so called top players we have gone for;
Costa - turned us down to stay with Atletico for another season
Sanchez - turned us down for London
Gotze - rejected us to go back to Dortmund
Brandt - didn't want to potentially be on the bench from time to time
The fella who went to PSG - money
VVD - Saints refusing
Keita - RBL refusing
It's not like we haven't been going after the players but one reason or another we are being rejected. Partly down to the owners? Probably. But all this blame that instantly gets thrown on their lap for us not signing players wears a bit thin. Yet when we sign someone like Mane, there isn't a mention of the owners. When you look at the market now, it was a steal to get him for less than 40mill.
They aren't perfect owners and I won't hide the fact that public apologies are down right embarrassing but it's getting a bit over the top that everything is automatically the fault of FSG the second something doesn't work out.
I'm as frustrated as the next guy that we won't be getting Keita because he looks boss but when you are having offers rejected, offers that smash our record signing, there is simply nothing you can do about it. It annoys the hell out of me the approach RBL are taking but then at the same time, we are doing the exact same with Coutinho. Only difference is that we won't lose him for near on 30mill less in a years time.
