Can't believe they want to sell him, he was their best player last year. If they really want to sell we should be in for him.
Trade him for Coutinho and piss off Barcelona in the process.
let him join Neymar.  Straight swap Draxler for Coutinho.  Not much money involved I don't think.

You could be right and didn't Klopp try to go in for him last summer?

Certainly remember us being linked with him.

Coutinho shouldn't go anywhere for less than 120m. You think Draxler is worth that much?

In terms of talent only I think Draxler could be better, isn't that far behind even now.

Difference being we don't want to sell and PSG do, so therefore I'd value Draxler lower.

Didn't Draxler swerve us for the money at PSG? Don't see why Klopp would want to go back in for him after that.

Anyway, situation still the same for me. Should be going all out for a CB and CM and holding onto Phil. Let 31 August pass and see if he wants to start playing again. He can give it all the big talk he wants right now but there's no chance he'll refuse to play in a World Cup year, and no chance of him playing less than 100% - if only to make sure that Barca (and PSG) are interested next summer.

Seems as decent an argument for selling Coutinho.

Given our £200 million war chest is largely untouched, we should be able to afford him without selling Coutinho.

All news papers do, but it sound plausible that Barca would come back with a higher figure, closer to the £133 M allegedly quoted by a Liverpool source... Now we wait on evidence to prove this story right or wrong

If, and its a big if, we sold him for lets say 120m and we then put that money towards signing both Keita and VVD this window as well as bringing in another attacking option like Draxler, then I would agree with you - sell him and get rid. I'm a firm believer of getting shut of players who don't want to be here (it appears Klopp is too).

Coutinho is that good and that important to us that one player coming in won't justify selling him. I'm shitting myself that we will sell him and that NO players will come in. Imagine that?

We are much weaker without coutinho, he is our best player, so unless we make (in my opinion) three major signings before he leaves then we simply can't let him go.

Its world cup year so if he wants his spot on that plane to Russia and if he wants clubs to interested clubs to remain interested in him then he will have to get over his sore back and start scoring goals for us again.

I agree with most of what you have said here,  but keeping a player who simply does not want to stay becuase we faer that we may not get players in is madness and the longer we hold on to him the less time and money we have to sign that player/players

Seriously though, are FSG going to get those deals over the line in 2 weeks time? They've had two and a half months of the window so far and we've only signed Salah (who we dragged our heels over for weeks) and two kids who I wouldn't consider as players who walk into our first 11.

      Simple answer to this... No

This, perhaps, is why Jürgen wants to sell Coutinho.

I'd be all over this personally. Brilliant player.

If we sold Cou and got Draxler + VvD I'd still say this window had been decent, sell Cou and get Keita/Draxler/VvD, I'd be over the moon.

Bollocks to selling someone first just buy him with the money we were throwing at Leipzig, come on Jürgen its a pretty good option B isn't it?

Coutinho is 25, Drexler will be 24 next month. Same generation. And i can see why Drexler would be better than Coutinho in the future.
In fact, the idea that Drexler is better proves how Coutinho is massively underrated in England.

Search for "Coutinho" in Spanish or Italian papers, read the articles about him in the last two seasons, then compare with what people say about him in English sites..

I saw things like this, in the RedCafe:
-"Coutinho is a Flat track bully".
Coming from a "Liverpool fan" there....in fact he scored a colossal percentage of his goals against the top sides.

You only need to watch Coutinho in the nt against Argentina, for example, comparing his performance with guys like Aguero, Di Maria, Dybala, Higuain, to realize his real level.

In his first year as a starter in the nt(2016, Coutinho outscored Neymar(open play).
