It was a very soft penalty - and my honest opinion is Lovern did nothing wrong.

He didn't push him, there is nothing in the rules about placing hands on players

Sorry, Eddio, but you are wrong. Lovren pushed the other guy.

However, it is the boss who has to carry the can for a poor performance. (Yes it was a poor performance. that's why we only scored one goal.) Why he rested Firmino and Coutinho and replaced them with Solanke and Chamberlain beats me. It wasn't as if they were tired out after Wednesday nights stroll. Why break up a team which had steamrolled Spartak?

That's a bit strong on Clifford

Funny that - just found out that Max Clifford used to be Big Sam's publicist so I suppose my original post wasn't too far off the mark.

I will watch the highlights bit my first option was he didn't push him.

I would say the main reason we didn't win by several goals was Evertons defending.

They deserve some credit for that

I'm not playing the blame game but I thought it was a strange decision to rest Firmino (Coutinho not 100% so fair enough).  Form doesn't count in such an intense derby and the boost of 3 points and stealing a march on Chelski would have been massive.  One change too many, Jürgen, I reckon.

As for the penalty, Lovren missed a header he probably couldn't reach because he'd lost awareness of Calvert Lewin's position and found himself under a ball he needed to clear.  His recovery wasn't bad but before either he or C-L got to the ball the Everton lad bounces into Lovren, and falls over.  He totally conned the ref, and Dejan could do nothing about it.  The refs position gives him a  perfectview of an apparent fall, a handthatmay or may not have made contact but certainly didn't push, and a wall of screaming Bitters in the Annie Road demanding the penno.  When you see it from the refs position it looks bad, but the opposite camera angle shows he conned the ref.  We needed our best attackers today, I'm letting Dejan off.

Lesson to be learned - make sure youre in a winning position (clearly) before subbing your best attacker, or bring on someone eqally dangerous to replace him (ie not when its too late).

Haven't we had this lesson before, sir?

Everton deserve no credit whatsoever for parking 3 double decker buses, they didn’t come to play football they came to frustrate and gain a point. That they achieved that, is more down to our mistakes than their brilliant defending.
Had we gone to Woodison and played the same tactics they’d slaughter us.

We should have scored more. Simple as that.  With the likes of Dejan Lovren in our defence a one goal need is never sufficient even against the most appalling opponents.

Furious that we drew that game because they were arguably the shittest team to play at Anfield this season and I'm including Spartak Moscow in that.

2 points dropped today without a shadow of a doubt.  Hoping for a different line up when they next visit Anfield in 4 weeks time.

I disagree, there's a great angle getting about on twitter which shows whatever that cu*ts name is moving into Lovren and initiating the contact - moving in opposite direction to ball as well. A very well done con job. Lovren looks clumsy, and has done plenty to earn the rep he has - but I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt on this one.

      EDIT: Here's the link.

      I'm not crediting there tactics

I doubt there has ever been a more one sided Derby!

But there were times when Everton defend well - if they didn't defend well we would of won by a cricket score.

This was the most one sided Merseyside Derby ever!!!!!!!!!!

Of course the bitter played for it and it was a soft penalty but Lovrens hands were on his back and it looked like a shove so a penalty. It was a stupid mistake but otherwise he had a good game not that there was much required from him.
