Got to be honest - I was a little bit nervous for him starting for the very first time in a Merseyside derby within a big atmosphere in the FA Cup. As debuts go, the stakes couldn't be higher so gauging how he'd handle the pressure and nerves was going to be interesting. With his big money tag you knew if he faltered then the press (and Alan Shearer - who was gagging for something terrible to happen to us, the c**t) would have a field day and would go into overdrive and start talking about worst debuts for high profile debutants and start comparing him to Woodgate for Real Madrid and...and...didn't happen.
The fact that he rose to the pressure with such an accomplished display (as well as the winning goal) speaks volumes already.
