You don't start creating needless headlines around the captaincy mid season, unless the captain resigns from the role voluntarily.
I don't keep myself up at night worrying about who should or shouldn't be captain. That said, even though I've been critical of Hendo in the past (plenty of times) I've come to the conclusion that he is as good a role model as anyone at our club. He's had to fight for his place a few times in the last 7 and a bit years he's been here but he's never gone out and complained to the press and nor has he made himself to be trouble on or off the field. He has always got his head down and worked hard to keep up with the standards that have been set which admittedly at times during his career with us, the standard of the team he's played for have been pretty wretched. But equally he's been able to keep his head above the water as we progressed through the levels and improved markedly with Klopp and that is a testament to the man's spirit and hard work regardless of what we think of his technical skills and whatnot.
I get a real sense of honesty from the guy and to realise that he's given us that kind of honest commitment for a good few years now is a heartwarming thing for a supporter to contemplate. He's a top human being and he's served this club with a great deal of dignity down the years.
