Just one of those things.
We have the benefit of seeing things from a high angle, plus slow motion replays.
When something unfolds at ground level, it looks different and a lot quicker.
I think he just got caught in 2 minds, and was unable to react in time.
No big deal, sh*t happens.
Just a simple miscommunication between the two, probably the first time it’s happened. My take on it was Virgil wanted a shout from Alisson as to whether to head it back to him, pass it back to him or leave it for him whilst at the same time I think Alisson was expecting Virgil to pass it back to him...given the way Alisson went at it with his feet when he could have collected it with his hands.
I’d say it’s lucky we got away with it this time but I think that would maybe suggest it could happen again but I think 99% of the time the communication has been there. Probably partly so used to Alisson being so quick of his line but the initial slice by Milner I think surprised everyone a bit.
If it was Migs and Lovren I might be a little worried but Virgil and Alisson are both mentally strong and it’s nothing to worry about and it hasn’t been before either.
What impressed me most though is that both Virgil and Milner are accepting responsibility for it and not trying some BS excuse or trying to palm it off on other players. It would be happening at some clubs. Just look at how City are so quick to start bitching among themselves in defence.
