You go the match to see the ball hit the back of the net. You don't go to watch a F***ing screen say "goal" or "no goal"
I don't care what other sports do.
I go to games to see us win, not to see opponents score and beat us because of a wrong decision(s). You are lucky enough to go often, and are now aware that every goal and penalty appeal given/rejected for both sides, is subject to review. You still hand over whatever it costs you to attend these days.
Watching the recent Sky VAR special on previous Liverpool v manc games in the past, just hammered home again why we need it. From the incidents they showed, we should have had 4 penalties more than we got, they were given 2 more than they should have, while they could have had at least 3 players dismissed for trying out their karate skills on our players, including their current manager, but unfortunately they all stayed on the pitch. All of those were wrong decisions, and obviously we lost some of those games. It's simply not good enough at this level.
it is VAR because the Ref didn't see it and without VAR the goal stands and rightly so. He was running and the ball came of the oppo's head close to him unless you can run with your hands down by your side they were in a natural position and did not move towards the ball. Pathetic rule yet again developed by people who have no idea how badly they are treating the fans they are robbing them
The ghost goal was rightly disallowed.
We have rules in the sport for a reason. The handball rule about goals scored is now clear as day. As the ref didn't see it, the VAR did what he is required to do as per the laws of the game. It was a great spot, because there's no way Oliver could spot it himself.
never in a million years did Hendo handle that VAR should never have been involved I f***in HATE IT
We know you hate it, not that it will make any difference. VAR is "involved" in every goal, given or not.
We're amongst the leading clubs this season for VAR decisions going in our favour, but we've had a goal ruled out for the handball rule this season. I didn't like it, but it was the correct decision so I accepted it instantly and got on with the rest of the game. Without VAR we would not have beaten Wolves, Leicester would not have lost to Southampton, along with numerous other results going against us, and we wouldn't have anything near the lead we have now. You could cut the current gap in half for starters, and keep counting.
So the fa are gonna use var in some games in the cup,but not in others?Really are stupid people running the game.
Same situation as last season. All games from the 6th Round will have VAR in operation.
Riley has given in to allow limited use of the monitor for red card offences. Oliver used the pitch monitor on the FA Cup weekend, only after giving the initial decision, punishment, and gone through the mandatory VAR check. Most observers said they were happy enough with him using the monitor, as they clearly didn't see the entire 5 minute long stoppage from play being stopped to the player leaving the pitch. Now that was just one incident in one game, if that happens 3-4 times per game every week, you will see people begging for the monitor not to be used, and will see why Riley is so against it.
