Cheating has now gone to another level with VAR. Players across the whole of the Premier league are diving or leaving a leg out just so they fall with the minimum of touch.
There's more dives in one match now than their was in one episode of Voyage to the bottom of the sea.
Diving = no contact. If there is no contact, a VAR will see that, and will advise the ref, so there's no point. If a forward puts himself in a position to be fouled and then is fouled, then it's not diving. Similarly, if you're not a keeper and you stop the ball going in the net with your hand, you will be caught and you will be dismissed. Moaning that it wouldn't happen in your league, as the manager did this week, is no defence whatsoever.
Most reviews take no longer than 90 seconds, and the time is all given back in stoppage time. But for the handful that take a bit longer, that's fine. There's 100m+ quid at stake, or titles to be decided, or relegation in the balance. So give us the correct decision there and then, and we'll argue the toss over how long it took later.
