I've given Juventus a watch on more than a couple of occasion since January, mostly in Serie A. I have to say, every time I watched them I couldn't wrap my head around how this team is considered favorite to win the CL. The level of play was simply not there. They were winning the games I watched them play, but I saw nothing that would prompt anyone to believe they are good enough to go into the CL games and be dominant.
I thought ''okay, this is probably because they have virtually wrapped up the Scudetto and they don't have to force themselves too much''. The Ronaldo hat trick against Atletico Madrid also made me think that ''yeah, maybe with him in the team and them putting it up a gear or two, we'll see this team doing what a lot of people seem to think they're promised to do''.
All came crumbling tonight. Without falling into the trap of thinking that the players around Ronaldo are just bad or something like that, I think that thinking/saying that more than a couple of these players are very overrated is a fair shout.
How do you play two different CL ties and only one player in the whole team gets on the scoresheet for both of these ties? The defense...porous at best. Emre Can... the more I watch this guy at Juve the more I feel like we did a great bit of business by not offering him a big contract to convince him to stay.
