But be honest - you have this weird thing about slagging Big Ali!!
If an outfield player loses form and throws games away every week, then he gets dropped. And if it persists, he gets sold. It doesn't matter if he scored against Everton a couple of years ago or not. If he's not good enough anymore, then he's not good enough and he has to be moved on. We stuck with Migs too long, we stuck with Karius too long, and we know how that worked out. A couple of miskick clearances from San Miguel and the "get rid" demands from here and elsewhere was instant. But at least he had an excuse, he was only a last minute freebie, signed to play early rounds in the cup and keep the bench warm.
Yeah he's still capable of making great saves, but the goals keep going in and by now it's just a question of when the next error is going to happen, and how costly is it going to be? He's saved 1 penalty in 3 full seasons. That is not slagging him, that's a fact. Migs saved more spot kicks than that in just one season, and we know what people thought of him.
We paid out a world record fee so he would keep clean sheets. He's kept one in his last five games, the home quarter final. That's not good enough to make the top 4, let alone win trophies. If he can't step it up again, then we need to look at alternative options before his next error costs us dearly.
