Best player on the pitch by a country mile

How Lovren is out in front when he almost gave two pens away is a mystery

Could be because he didn't give penalties away, and defended well.

Our defense was excellent. We're lacking in our attack depertment. We're still first after playing Spurs, Chelsea and City.

      MOTM Wijnaldum.

We are well off our own pace so far but somehow we are unbeaten in the league and joint top with Chelsea and City that's pretty good considering.
No idea what can be done with our front three its just not happening and needs changing. Despite the howls of derision about Lovren he was awesome today and a real bonus to have another defensive option and kind of ironic that it was Virgil's mistake which nearly lost the game.

Kieta looked off the pace again when he came on but despite all of this we are joint top with plenty of options in the squad and a front three that can only get better.
      Happy days

I think you're right to positive mate.  I think, though, that our full backs have been stifled lately and it's cost us a major creative outlet.

City come to Anfield and their first thought and whole game plan is to contain us, and try to nick a goal on the break.

I'd rather have the 3 points, but their game plan worked, and it's a huge compliment to Klopp and the lads

Jürgen has now got more options than any other manager we have probably ever had the front three were incredible last season but this season it not happening for them.
I have no idea what he will do next we got out of jail today and despite our form being patchy we have our best start for a long time its a funny old game.

He really didn't. He was caught out of position on more than one occasion. I wouldn't say he played particularly badly but he was a far cry from being MOTM.

As for the game as a whole, it was a really, really strange game. Both teams looked like they'd been replaced with imposters. We had none of our usual energy and both us and City looked too scared to commit to an attack lest the other side take advantage of it with a counter attack. A draw was a deserved result in the end because neither team did enough to win it.

I'd have rested 3 or 4 players for the Napoli game and that's why. We were tired, simple as that. We had good intensity in our pressing for 10 minutes at the start of each half, especially the first, and then just couldn't sustain it.

VVD was a stick on for MOTM until the penalty, so gave it to Gomez, who did well at RB and took the fight to them in the 2nd half when he could. Usual mix from Lovren - couple of excellent tackles, and a couple of rash could-have-been penalties. He makes me nervous, and the sooner we get Trent or Clyne back at RB and Joe back at CB the better. Bobby is really struggling up front, he is the most off form of our front 3, although again tiredness ain't gonna help.

Overall I'm happy with the point, given the performance. I thought the players dug deep in a difficult match, and Citeh started to tire by the end as well. It's a missed opportunity for them much more than for us I think.

f***in Neville and Tyler were constantly willing City to win in the second half they must be gutted . When people reflect tomorrow and look at the league compared to last season they will see we are in a really good spot despite not playing well at all.

It feels like a loss. My points:

      1. City was the better team, we had virtually no big chance, they had three.
      2. Lovren looks worse than Gomez, still love that Jürgen started Lovren for you don't lose your starting job due to an injury.
      3. No idea why Joe came in for Trent, it was a downgrade.
      4. Overall the defense did OK.
      5. Keita is not ready for PL, he looked awful tonight.
      6. Midfield was business as usual: not good but not bad either, no zip, no ideas though, no idea why no Shaq.
      7. Offense was business as usual: living on a prayer to make something happen from pressing is not enough.
      8. Overall I don't like the direction the team is going. We play mediocre football with an improved defense.
      9. Today I came to the conclusion we won't win the PL. We don't have the quality man in the middle, Coutinho's absence is crucial.

Feels like a draw to me.....and more progress.

Joint top after 8 games with a Champs League to contend with.

You can’t win the league in October but you can sure as hell lose it.

We’re in a great position......wait till the frontmen click 👊

Pretty satisfied with that point and going into the break joint-top.

Those Aaron Ramsey links in Jan, I would welcome it cos he is that kinda player who creates that link between the midfield and attack. Cos currently something is clearly broken with the current set up and all we keep seeing is hopeful balls, and see if the front 3 can do something about it. I dont wanna see Salah with his back to the goal anymore when he receives the ball.
