The honest answer should be Jürgen Klopp !!
But in terms of players, I would say Virgil, Alisson and Suarez. I was actually in disbelief given the season we had and were having, that the groundwork for Suarez was laid and almost done, with you-know-who still our manager!
Virgil quite simply bcos City, Scum and Chelsea wanted to sign him, and there were rumors that Barca considered him before they opted to wait until the summer to activate Lenglet's release clause.
And that was possible, only cos of Jürgen!
I'd go along with that.
Benitez and Klopp were the last two big signings the club made in recent history.
Statements of intent that then were followed by "Marquee" signings.
Under Benitez, Torres was probably the standout as himself and Villa were the stars of Spain at the time.
Under Klopp, van Dijk and Alisson are the ones that stand out for me as big players that other teams wanted but who came here.
I'm picking van Dijk and Alisson because they are the top tier players that came straight in to the team and transformed it.
Salah we didn't know how good he was going to be and we've yet to see how good Fabinho or Keita will ultimately be,
but those two of recent times are markers.
