City have lost 4 Premier League games.
We have lost 1 Premier League game.
Let that sink in.
These lads are trying their best and the real issue of squad depth has reared its ugly head. Look at the bench tonight - Sturridge, Moreno, Mignolet, Origi, Shaqiri, Jones & Camacho. Jones and Camacho get a free pass, they are just young lads on the fringe.
That is not the bench of a title contending side but guess what? We are top of the League currently and that situation will remain so if we continue to win our remaining games. It is still in our hands.
I'm just as frustrated as most supporters on here, I think the days of Matip, Lovren, Clyne, Mignolet, Moreno, Lallana & Karius are numbered but until the end of the Season we have to make do with what we have. Gomez has been a massive loss, even van Dijk has suffered a dip in form without Joe there to shepherd him. They have been a formidable partnership and Joe can't come back soon enough.
Our midfield is so lacking cohesion it is annoying to watch, we sat so deep in possession tonight that we were never going to penetrate their defence. One of the midfielders has to push forward and create that link between midfield and the front three, we didn't look like doing it. The front three were poor as a whole but i can't believe the amount of venom being spat at Firmino. Yes he had a nightmare but remember there are nine other outfield players on that pitch. Firmino is world class, that hasn't changed, he just wasn't tonight. The things he does with a football are unreal, he can make it sing.
I even saw a post claiming that Klopp didn't care! Whoever that was will regret posting that in the morning, there isn't a single Liverpool supporter alive on the planet who would accuse Klopp of not caring when in the right frame of mind. I learned a long time ago on this forum to try not to post in anger, it rarely ends well and often ends in apologies being handed out.
Chill out boys and girls. 25 games played, 3 points clear. It's time to see what we are really made of. As long as we don't suffer any more injuries to key players then i see a Title coming to Anfield this Season.
