Come off it.  Torres is one of our best players.

He's pulling the defenders all over the place giving lots of freedom to the others.  I've said before that when he plays then other players will get more goals.  Okay so he has missed a few chances but we are winning 3-0.  You don't drop someone for not taking chances when they are so creative.
No i'm saying that he will be tired (so will Kuyt) but Crouch and Kuyt are great together in games to do with europe, yeh a 75% Torres is probably better than a 95% Crouch, but Torres hasn't had much expiernce in euro

      Great performance. Great result.

TBH I never fancy getting a result away at Newcastle. But they were completely hopeless sh*te.

Let's hope Michael Owen enjoyed that.  Was it worth the move to get in to the England side?  Ha.

Good performace today.  Newcastle were absolutely shocking.

Magnificent inspiration from Stevie today.  Hopefully that shut some critics up.

Can someone answer this question for me, when is our game in hand?

Torres will be alright he has had a two break, as for his miss chances he had about 5 chances and at least 3 of them could only have been converted into chances by him.

Good point.  It's still not been decided as far as I know.  A mid-weeker probably after Christmas now.

Looking through our fixtures we only have the midweek of 5th December available so probably January at the earliest.  We have 8 games in December!!!

I suppose before all the games kick off today is a more accurate representation of our true position.

Cheers for clearing that up KK.

I still don't understand how we've ended up with a game in hand and Man Utd haven't.

And another point, we've only won 2 at home and drew 4?  Sounds really bizzare.

Great result and totally happy with our performance there. As KoolKidda said, it should have been at least 10-0!!
We made a weak Newcastle look so much worse than they already are. Was concerned about Sissoko in the first half. He just can not keep the ball close to his feet can he and some of his passes were very poor. But thankfully he sorted it out in second half when he dropped off a little bit and just began to win the ball back. Don't reckon he'll have many starts this season.

Apart from that, everyone had a good game in general, which is great to see. Some very nice passing and possesion. We always looked very dangerous going forward as the game progressed - Torres had a good affect in that sense. They didn't know what to do with him. Created a lot of space and should have scored at least four or five! Just one of those days for him. Made up for Kuyt and Babel to get on the scoresheet. And Gerrard's goal was more than brilliant!

Great away performance. Great way to shut the media up about our club! Another great three points.

Big Sam! He's got a big fat head, he's got a big fat head!  :D

First of all very pleased we won. Brilliant to bag another 3 points away from home.

But Newcastle were shocking... Big Sam to be picking up P45 by Xmas.

Torres' movement was world-class. Torres' finishing was ryman league class.

Gerrard was inspirational...and this would have helped get Wednesday out of his system.

Sissoko was a total liability of 3/4 of the game - not sure what is going on in his head - looks more gangly than ever...not good.

Lucas didn't quite come of age - needs more games but I don't see how Rafa could play him in the holding role and not Sissokko (head scratching time).

Back four solid and Sami H an (old) rock.

      Babel looking class.

      My rankings:

      PR 7 - bored.
SF 7 - good on wings
      JC 7 - solid
      SH 8 - rock
      AA 7 - dependable
      HK 7 - decent
      LL 6 - dissapointing
MS 3 - loco? (was in for big fat zero for 1st half display...)
      SG 9 - brilliant MoM
      DK 7 - better
FT 5 - finishing was pathetic / movement brilliant
(but movement doesn't win games - goals do - needs specialised finishing sessions with Rushy...)

      RB 8 - fine
PC 6 - not enough time
JAR 6 - off to Villa soon...

Great result, TBH Newcastle didn't turn up really, but you can only beat what's in front of you.

It's very hard to make any assessment of our keeper or defence as they had next to nothing to do all game, I do remember a couple of good bits of defensive play from Carra & Hyypia but I genuinely can't recall either fullback having to do one thing defensively. Going forward I feel both fullbacks could have offered a bit more, but on a day like today it didn't really make any difference.

Our midfield today just bossed absolutely everything, and right in the middle of it who else? Stevie Gerrard. He had a phenominal game today, and it should have helped get the pain of Wednesday night out of his head. Lucas looked promising, but TBH I'm not sure where these reports that he can play holding midfield have come from, he definitely looks a lot more comfortable going forward than defending. Kewell obviously isn't back to his best yet but had a good game for me, it's just a shame that I find myself breathing a sigh of relief after every game that he hasn't got injured. Sissoko was easily the worst of our midfielders, but to be fair he did get better as the game went on. I've always maintained that he shouldn't get a game without Alonso alongside him & I stick by that, so I won't be too critical of him today.

Up front Torres should have had a hatful. It's hard to be critical when he carved the opportunities for himself rather than being supplied them, but he lacks that clinical edge in front of goal. As someone else mentioned though he does drag defenders out of position and can create openings for others, but I would still like to see us sign a poacher style player at some point. Kuyt for me had a good game too, I know he gets slated a lot but he unsettles defences & I feel he would definitely be missed if we were to get rid of him like some have suggested.

Crouch & Riise weren't really on the pitch long enough to judge them, although I do recall one terrible bit of play by Riise just after he came on, he ran about 30 yards in the wrong direction with the ball just to play it back to where he'd been 5 seconds earlier & where there was blatantly not another Liverpool shirt. Babel though was absolutely awesome. Some people I feel were too quick to jump on his back when he had a slow start with us, but recently he seems to have found his feet a bit & we are now starting to see what he's all about.

After the press coverage the club has been having the last few days this is the best possible answer the boys could have given. It is also the first time I've predicted the score correctly this season, and I forgot to enter it in the prediction league!

Good post.  As I stated earlier I am not going to criticise Torres on his finishing when nearly all of his opportunites he carved for himself. When you even consider dropping players who create so many chances then you are on the slippery slope.

Both him, and increasingly Babel, are looking really good signings now.

Another day and we could have had many more - but yet again the reds continued to go for the kill when previously we would have attempted to sit on a 2-0, even 1-0, away lead.

If we start punishing teams at home then this could be a really impressive season.

Couldnt agree more to be honest. I would also like to add Im really happy for Stevie G and the way he put one over on those booing jordy cu*ts, I really am getting pissed off going to Newcastle as their "so called fans" seem to boo everything. They seem to have a boo boy culture they boo the ref they boo their manager they boo the opposition they boo their chairman, isnt it about time they grew up and started supporting their team instead of thinking they are really clever and just boooing. In fact im beginning to think that any NEwcastle season ticket holder who goes carol singing this xmas will in fact only be able to spout out the the 12 boos of christmas. I hope they  get F***ing relgated this season on todays behavior against our captain bunch of no hopers that really got under my skin and Im glad Stevie shoved that down their throat.

Indeed. I'm glad Stevie had a great game and walloped that brilliant free kick in to shove the boos back down their throats. I take pleasure in knowing that's all Newcastle could achieve today. Boos!

Thing is they still booed him when he went off.

Laughable really.  We often forgot that the majority of hardcore England supporters are made up of fans from sh*t teams who never win anything.  That's why Liverpool fans are never too bothered.

Most Geordies probably know that the England team represents the only chance of them ever 'supporting' someone who might win something.

(Mind you that fireman did finish 2nd in Big Brother that year - they nearly did it then)

Just don't mention European Capital of Culture to them.

Fantastic result and a decent performance.  Torres should have scored more but he created a lot of opportunites for himself.  If he hadn't have played we would have had half the chances we did.

I used to really have a lot of respect for the Newcastle fans.  What happened today with them? Have all 50,000 of them been replaced by an entirely new set of fans.

You let yourselves down there boys.

Anyway, back to the mighty reds - great to see Stevie G play so well - maybe we should start booing him every week at Anfield!

Hyypia played well too (not that he had much to do). He can clearly still do a job for us - just not two games a week.

I felt bad for Torres, all those shots going wide :( This season he'll struggle I think and then next season he will be immense. (As long as he doesn't get injured!)

I love seeing Stevie's face after he scores, even when we were like 6-0 up at that Champs League game or something, still soo happy to score, full of passion.. lots of footballers missing that these days! Although he didn't look happy to be coming off, he never is. I think he understands though.. he must be exhausted. Can't beleive the Toon booed him, how pathetic  ::)

Ah well. Great game, great goals (Kuyt's was funny!), 3 points. BAM!  ;D
