It's you got your head up your arse if you've spotted FSG spending a single one of their own US cents on the Liverpool playing squad. Every penny has been generated by Liverpool the club, off its own bat.
I couldn't give a flying sh*te about Boston and the colour of their socks and their half-and-half-scarf dickhead fans that seem to have attached themselves to LFC like coronavirus attaches itself to a human lung. They can all f**k off out of it.
FSG fans talk sh*te; have no clue what the word investment means.
In a nutshell: in the best case scenario for FSG, where FFP was supposed to work and provide something of a level playing field, FSG invested £0.00 in the LFC playing squad.
Now that FFP is dead, the entire premise on which FSG invested in LFC is in tatters. Yes the TV money is still there just about (but rumoured to be artificially propped up for the next few years); yes the fans will still fill the stadium. But unless the Premier League step in (they won't) or the government legislate (they won't) top flight football is going to immediately revert to which owner has the biggest pockets: Manchester City, Chelsea, we'll even get to see just how much money is behind Everton and it's a f**k sight more than is behind LFC that's for sure, with FSG's £0.00 investment in the playing staff in 10 years.
The current valuation of LFC is based on several seasons of success in Europe not far off the glory days of the late 70s. But we're not gonna make the CL next season and it's entirely possible not the one after. The value of FSG's investment is going to start dropping.
I've already posted several times that now is not the time to be protesting against FSG, as tempting as it is to try to keep momentum up on owners of 'the greedy six'. But FSG's next move is critical. They can either speculate to accumulate - and that means directly investing in the playing squad - or they can see the club inevitably slide into mid-table due to lack of direct investment in the playing squad. Plenty of people have shown the correlation between (a) final position in the league table, and (b) spend on the playing squad (salaries + transfer net spend). So if we were say 10th out of 20 clubs in terms of playing squad spend, it's not looking good for finishing in the top 4. Yes Klopp might be able to continue to work miracles but there's no guarantee he will. Look at this season when the quality of players available to him has been badly hit. Start selling our best players and replacing them with inferior players and risky gambles (hello Alonso, Leiva, Aquilani) and Klopp's final three years could start looking like the back end of Rafa's reign.
If that happens we'll soon see whether John Henry won't ever sell LFC. Let's face it, he already looks like someone only being kept alive by artificial means. There'll be Reds looking to test just how good his batteries are.
Good post,
I think we have enough in the tank for another title tilt next season, but beyond that we really need to start planning and start rebuilding now, FSG know this and are relying on Jürgen and the current squad to deliver again,
After the ESL F**k up they could ease supporters wrath if they would prove enough funds for the rebuild to begin, in short, give Jürgen the finances to go and buy who he feels will take us onto the next phase, it is without question that they will need to dig deep over the next 2/3 seasons in order for us to keep up with the Jones’s,
Most of our bigger guns are now approaching their latter years in terms of peaking and will be phased out gradually, so the replacement’s need to be found and integrated starting this summer so as the transition will be as smooth as possible, it is my belief that Jota was the first of those to come in, Konate if he arrives would be another, wee Harvey Elliot has a bright future with us too, and perhaps maybe one or two more of the ressies,
But digging deep isn’t in the FSG vocabulary, only monies generated by pitchside success is their mantra, but, the goalposts have changed, pardon the pun, and E6X is spot on, J W and his wee greedy mates need to change their mantra perhaps for a window or two and provide the readies for further successes, otherwise they too will become like the Glazers albeit without the debt,
Their hardly going to lose out are they, so like E6X said they need to speculate to accumulate and that will mean a lot of happy faces amongst those who want them out, not too mention those who don’t,
I hated what they tried to do to our club, this will never be forgotten, certainly not on the Kop that’s for sure, but, like a lot has said, be careful what you wish for, Jürgen is right, their not bad ppl, they just made a catastrophic error of judgement, had they burdened us with debt like the Glazers have at Scumland it would be different and a lot worse for them, we all know that, H&G are proof of that,
Best thing they can do to repair the damage is back Jürgen 100%, no quiffs, no dragging of feet, give the fella what he wants and he will deliver, hasn’t he proved already that he can ? So let him finish his project, give him the tools he needs to leave his legacy, then FSG, you never know, we just might forgive you.
