Gone for Fabinho. Had to wear a lot of hats this season, but no doubt about it that his return to midfield was what ensured we ended the last 10 unbeaten.
Agree with the first part, but not the last part, he's possibly been our worst player in the last 4 games, looking physically worn out and offering almost no protection to the young lads at the back. Last 10 unbeaten was down to pretty much the whole team raising their games and returning to the 'mentality monsters' psyche, barring a couple of late goal blips against Newcastle and whoever the other side was.
But yeah over the season I've narrowly gone for Fabinho, for the same reason that he's had to be consistently very good in multiple positions, though if Thiago hadn't been assaulted by Richarlison I think he would have won POTY by Christmas he'd have been so far ahead on MOTM awards, he's been imperious on this run-in; I almost can't wait for next season to start he's been that good.
Can understand the Salah shouts in terms of his goals, but the cryarsing to the Spanish press about Trent being given the captaincy in one measly game means any vote for Mo is impossible for me, it's not the sort of behaviour I expect from a Liverpool player. You don't get to be Liverpool skipper just cos you wore a "Never give up" t-shirt on the sidelines while your teammates are the ones on the pitch not giving up.
People see patterns that may be complete coincidences all the time. Trent's supposed surge in form being down to the most ruthless man in world football, Mister Gareth Waistcoats? Fabinho's return at 6 coinciding with an unbeaten last 10 games?
Me I've got one of my own. Mo whingeing to the Spanish media about Trent being captain seemed to kick off our disastrous run of home games and Mo's inability to hit a barn door with a banjo. Also around that time, Mo's bellend of an agent posting that full stop tweet.
Not been a good year for agents of LFC players: Mo's agent's full stop tweet and bouncing Mo around interviews with Spanish media outlets; Keita's agent having a go at Klopp for failing to recognise that Naby is the playmaker lovechild of JJ Okocha and Yaya Touré; Gini's agent possibly partly responsible (with Edwards) for mis-negotiating his client out of LFC and into the job centre by the looks of things yesterday.
Some of our players need to spend the off season considering whether their agent might actually be the best person for the job...
