The League Cup was valued worthy of the greatest manager in the history of the game, Bob Paisely, to go and lift in his final season in charge back in 83. And if it's good enough for Bob then it's sure as f**k good enough for any one of us.
It's also the only competition we've won 4 times in consecutive years.
It's the only trophy that has been a part of both our trebles in 84 and 01.
It's the only trophy we've won more than any other.
And did you see the celebrations at Wembley when we won it? Did you see the little kid dancing and lifting the trophy aloft alongside Ali? Did you see the grown men with tears in their eyes because their club had won the League Cup? I saw all that on replay because I was one of those men with tears in my eyes. Who cares about the League Cup? Well I f**king do. And as Jürgen said, it felt no different to him than winning the Champions League.
Ten f**king years without a domestic cup is too long for a club of our size. And winning the League Cup back in 2012 brought tears to the eyes of Kenny Dalglish, which shows how much it means to The King as well.
Now we're sixteen games away from winning our first ever quadruple - including the League Cup! And who knows we might put the icing on the cake with a special treble within the quadruple of beating Chelsea in three finals in one season.
So we've already had success this season, let's go and build on it with even more success.

Now before I get shouted down, yes I was one of those who seen it as the least priority of trophies, maybe it is, I was also one of those who boo hoo’d it as Micky mouse silverware, so I guess I am hypocritical, but when you read something like what DLS wrote, you sit back and take notice , you re-evaluate what it means, not only to this club but to those have served us so well, ppl who you or I will never experience what they had or did, we are merely fans/ supporters, but those ppl Billy is on about gave their blood sweat and tears & passion winning it as either player, manager or both,
So for me we should be thanking Billy for reminding us exactly what winning a league cup should mean to all of us, and most of us including myself should hang our heads in shame for forgetting what it meant to those we give/ gave our support to for decades, it may not reap the financial rewards other pieces of eight do, but it is silverware and as fans of this wonderful institution of ours should embrace it and want to win it each and every season, that passion and those tears Billy shed are for real, you can’t write them, something we should remind ourselves of the next time someone mock’s it or puts it down!!
