I think top 4 is pretty safe for us. We are not a bad team at all. just couple of signings away for a title challenge imo.

Just one signing. Either a top striker or a top (offensive) midfielder. Now we can focus more on CL, for instance Jürgen can rest key player on the weekend before a CL game.

      Went Hendo myself.

From such a terrible run of form I thought he was excellent today.

takes us second game in hand lets just let them know we are still waiting in case they fall. as for W.Ham beaten by Leeds and the often mentioned Bowen missed an open goal form 2 yards.
Win our game in hand 8 points beat them at City 5 points they will at some point slip up we have got to hang in there and be ready when they do.

City aren’t going to drop many points and we have to win their , so as long as we stay clear of the top 4 struggle I will take that and a trophy (or 3)

I know they're not mate, unfortunately.

We just need to keep with them.

We beat them and win our game in hand there's 5 points in it.

      Not impossible.

But yes a couple of trophies would be brilliant, starting with the League Cup.

Love the optimism mate. In the real world they've got Southampton Brentford and Norwich next 3 games. They won't be dropping any points anytime soon.

City WILL drop points. If they don't that means they would finish the season at 104 points and i don't see that happening.

They will, it's whether they drop enough and we capitalise.

its unlikely but unless we keep winning they will have no pressure on them so lets keep them honest well as honest as they can be

We have the quality to do it, just need to remember how to defend a lead. The year we won the league is because we won the ugly games and held on. This year we dropped points instead.

They might drop 6 ... 8 at most. We will drop more than that. We probably need them to drop 16+ points from a possible 48 between now and the end of the season. Ain't happening.

16 points? No way. City will definitely hit 90+ points and our possible max is 96.

It won't be easy and those points we stupidly dropped are going to hurt to make up, but we have the team to do it.

So if we win every game and get to 96 ... City need to drop 9+ points which would have to include us beating them.

No way we are getting 96 points. We will drop at least 10 points before the end of the season.

I'd love to be wrong. But we have not played well consistently for along time now. Hopefully we go deep in the CL and this will also affect our league form.

The cheats however can rotate their 2 1/2 first teams.

Absolutely I'm not saying they won't drop points. Just not that many.

But we will too is the thing.

Anyone know why The Guardian are totally ignoring our match on their home football page today? They have articles about every match but ours....odd.

There's been more posts in the Rafa thread than in the match thread since full time.

Guess we've nothing much to moan about today ;D

So much better than against Arsenal , the ball was passed around a lot quicker , better width , better runs , better probing balls

The midfield started a little slowly but once they got into the game the balance was very good - Fabinho clearing up well , Henderson was all over the pitch supporting - and Jones providing that extra little bit of creativity

Jones and Henderson supported the wide players which allowed them to create the 2vs 1 and Robbo had his best game for a while - TAA was up and down

The front 3 - They all looked like they were trying to hard and Bobby and Ox rusty but as it went on they started to find players with the their touches , great goal for Ox.

Pleased to see Taki grab a goal as well

Wasn’t the best performance but it was needed

So that’s 2 wins and 1 draw in the AFCON games

Jones was my Mom but close with Henderson and Fabinho

Had a quick read through the thread - guess the game looked differently to some

Off the back of the performance/result against Arse, that could've been a bit of a banana skin today but fair play to the lads, and Jürgen, the result was the most important thing and they got the 3 points, will take that.
Whatever about the gap at the top to Citeh, all we can do is win our games, which'd also give us some confidence going into the Cup matches.
Sounded like TAA had a better game, and Fab on the scoresheet again ! :)
Big game on Thurs night now, be nice to get to a final.  Assuming Arse don't try wheedle out of it...

Win our game in hand and the gap is 8 points, I think If we can close the gap to 5 points by the time we play them in April we'll have half a chance. Beat them at their place and the gap is two points and it's a 6 game run-in.

Lots of ifs, buts and maybes there but after looking at it it's a scenario where I can maybe see us having half a chance.

Much better performance today too. If Jota had his shooting boots on it could have easily been a couple more
