Every sport thinks it's got too many games, or races, or competitions. That's just the way it is, and you've just got to get on with it, because if you don't do it someone else will. There are far more stressful occupations out there, than living a luxury lifestyle, by trying to kick a ball round a field.
The whole super league debacle was less about a closed off league or protecting the integrity of the game and more about the football associations (FIFA and UEFA) protecting their product (and profits) to implement their own non-super league "Super League" dressed up as expanded UCL/WCC.
There is no comparison.
One is a badly run, poorly thought, money making scam devised by a handful of greedy Americans and Agnelli, that will never see a ball kicked in anger.
The other is an organised, expanded, legal, knockout tournament that you have to earn your place in. Basically the World Cup finals in it's current format, but for clubs rather than countries. While the international calendar is also been restructured. Of course there will be objections to it because there will always be objections to change, but this is a positive development, not the ESL in any way or form.
I cherished us winning that WCC title in 2019, and want to win it again. Only we won't necessarily have to win the European Cup to get in the next time. With more teams in it and having it just once every 4 years, winning it will also carry more weight than it does atm.
