Squad depth no, but our strongest 11 and no injuries - yes! Big ask but not impossible

      I agree -

      Alisson (best in the world)
      Trent (best in the world)
Robertson (one of the best in the world)
Konate (one of the best in the world)
VVD (one of the best in the world)
Mac (potential to be a Ā£150m player, heā€™s that good)
      Dom (same as mac)

The five forwards donā€™t need any explanation - absolutely lethal and would walk into nearly every top team on the planet.

We also won the league with the same defense

We also won the league with Hansen, Lawro et al 😊

If Konate doesn't make it I'd rather Gomez than Matip. Much more suited to that RCB role when Trent goes into midfield

So are you saying if we donā€™t get proper reinforcements itā€™s JĆ¼rgenā€™s fault?

Where does it say that ?

;D there is a valuation that the bean counters place on players so even if JĆ¼rgen was desperate for player X they will not spend above that.

JĆ¼rgen has a role in as much as giving the final nod of approval he doesnā€™t negotiate prices. 👍

Do you mean like looking to spend over Ā£100mil on a player - and donā€™t most clubs have valuations on players.

Klopp is fully involved in the recruitment process and that will include how much they value a player

Definitely would prefer Gomez in there for his pace

You know for a fact he sits there with the bean counters and gets his calculator out? 😂

Is there anything he doesnā€™t do at the club apart from the cleaning 🤭

I would imagine the analytics team who do you think puts valuations on players?

If you think itā€™s Klopp you are even more clueless than I imagined.

Gomez was superb alongside VVD. He just hasnt had a good run of games to get his form and confidence up
3 years ago, bro ;D.  You love some Gomez 🤣. I don't see it, but respect for sticking by the lad 👏

Gomez had a decent run alongside vvd in 2018. 5 years ago. I don't know any other top club that would wait 5 plus years for a player to 'get back to form' .

Gomez had his games last season and he was an accident waiting to happen in pretty much all of them.

I guess we are going to find out exactly where we are with this fixture tomorrow night. This Newcastle team mean business, they appear to have bought well again this window with Tonali and Barnes both looking the part and they tore a very good Villa side to bits on the opening day of the season. We've got a very good record against them but i think a few of us are fearing it might not go so well this time. I'm really not sure which way it will go, we've got goals in the team but i'm struggling to see the possession and control that we usually have against just about side in the league bar City. Interested to see what Endo can do, this will be a real test for him and our midfield. Personally i have my doubts about him but Klopp is evidently a big fan. I'd take a draw but a win would be massive. If we lose, maybe it will wake up our personnel department to adress the holes. My wife and littlen are away for the week so i'll be on the golf course then in the pub so it's all good!

I know people won't like this but winning this game would make a statement imo. Newcastle is serious competition these days and if we can get the three points away from home without our new signings completely settled, that would be massive.

Drop Jota put Gakpo through the middle and have Endo start from the off.

Gomez or Matip ... I'd go matip as he's a far better player. Gomez never has and never will reach matips level. Yes i know he was decent for 3 or 4 months back in 2018.

Jota or gapko ... that's easy ... Jota. Absolute peach of a striker/forward. Gapko very good and will get his chances but Jota delivers the goods more than anyone else and consistently for me in the offensive area since he joined ... bar salah.

Don't see this as the scary encounter it is being made out as. Newcastle are a good team and at home, but we still have better players and a better manager. Only negative is Konate out. I'd probably go Matip and tell Trent to stick to the RB role but it's a close call.

Looking forward to seeing our new midfield 3 in action. Think we are favourites.

Like their forward, Isak. Think he's a very good player. Started slowly, but maybe can have more impact this year, we'll see. And they have other good players. Could argue they are more settled, certainly if we start 3 our new midfielders. And they have home advantage.
But we have very good players too. And if hit form, can score a lot of goals.
Think it's a tougher away test than Chelsea. Really looking forward to it :)

Yeah Isak is class. Harvey Barnes? Anthony Gordon? I'll take our guys. We're still the better side, definitely.
