      Managerial Shortlist
      Jan 26, 2024 04:22:58 pm
      I know the hotseat's not even cold yet, but let's think ahead for next summer. I know the club are....

      Shortlist:

      Xabi Alonso
      De Zerbi
      ~~~~~~~
      Followed by
      Gerrard
      What about Player Manager? VVD?
      ~~~~~~~
      Others:
      Allardici
      Hodgson
      John Sitton
      ~~~~~~~~
      All joking aside, it's a tough act to follow.
      I wonder out of respect if Guardiola will call his time in the UK regardless of charges?
      Maybe a long shot Unai Emery, currently at Aston Villa ?
      He's class. One of my favourites.
      Anyone mentioning Gerrard needs their head examined.
      Saying that I can't even think about it yet still processing the news
      This is all that needs to be said. Anyone suggesting Emery needs to "do one" as they say.
      Emery has not done well at a big club, Aston villa is just his level as was Sevilla, can't handle big expectations.
      I'm only interested in 2 managers, Alonso, and Nagelsmann.
      Gary O'Neil is somebody who the club already knows given his short stint with the U-23s.
      It's a weird feeling. I want to just enjoy Klopp for now, but it's inevitable to think about the future.
      And I'm not saying it's going to happen, or is likely to happen, and I expect most to disagree, but... I've seen Spurs transformation under Ange Postecoglou from up close and it constantly reminds me of Klopp in his early days at LFC. The way he conducts himself, his positivity in all interactions - with the media, with fans, with his players - the belief he's got in himself and the belief he instills in his players, they seem very much alike in many ways. And the football on display is delightful to watch. I was already an admirer of Ange but he's surpassed expectations so far. He might not be 'proven' at this level but neither is Alonso. And who is, really? Antonio Conte? Jose Mourinho? F**k me, I don't want any 'proven' managers if that's what we have to endure.
      Plus, Ange is a massive Liverpool fan. ;)
      Alonso obviously but shouldn’t discount the likes of De Zerbi who seems very tactically astute.
      Could also see the likes of Iraola shortlisted but maybe a bit too early in his managerial career.
      Same. He's got an incredible PR team because people talk of him as though he took Brighton from nowhere to being fantastic forgetting that many of the hard yards were put in by Graham Potter.
      Would it not leave a sour taste in your mouth that he would be abandoning his new project so early to join us, if he is who we want him to be than it might but then again we would be asking Xabi to do the same.
      Not abandoning. His childhood team and one of the biggest clubs in the game ... top 3 biggest would be in for him. I'm sure he wouldn't think twice. Not everyday something like that crops up.
      I think we need someone with experience who is familiar with the pressure and cadence of the premier league, playing in all 4 competitions, 3 days a week and needing to win every game.
      Alonso is experienced with that as a player. If he wins the Bundesliga then he's gotta be stonewall 1st choice.
      Ancelotti managed Everton so, hell no.
      DeZerbi seems like a bit of a journeyman and hasn't won anything.
      Emery managed Arsenal so big no for me there.
      I have no idea why anyone is suggesting big Ange ;D like, be for real lads.
      No one springing to mind especially I know people will clamour for Xabi but is the time right? De Zerbi team strong due to recruitment really and he himself not really broke pots. Like the guy at Spurs but can't see that happening. It's a big decision needs to be right we can't afford to slip away which with the base of current team shouldn't happen
      It all seems like heresy to even be contemplating who comes after Jürgen. He has shown himself to be much, much more than a football manager.
      Whoever get's the Golden ticket, it will be an almost impossible job, as he will be forever burdened with having to match up to the Great man.
      Even if we get a successful manager, and there's every chance we will...The hard bit....the impossible bit, will be the unique connection JK has, and will always have with our club and our city.
