New Stadium plans -B.B.C. sport 15/12/07
      Dec 15, 2007 08:03:31 am
Just been reading B.B.C. sport and there is an item supposedly from the Mirror saying the REDS are set to scrap plans for new 700 million quid stadium. It is because funding has been hit by volatile financial credit markets. Surely this cant be true,if it is true its time for Tom .George and Rick Parry to come clean while they are at Anfield this week.OR is this another media bashing designed to destabalise the Mighty REDS B4 the Manure game.

if the reasons for cancelling are lack of funding, it may be wise not to start the project rather than end up with a a massive debt around the clubs neck after them two pull the plug and leave the club, but i agree about running them out of anfield if they are making false promises !

Stanley Park Plans "to be scaled down"
I heard today (BBC radio) that the architectural plans/capacity for the new Stanley Park stadium are to be "scaled-down" by Gillette & Hicks due to lack of funds and budget estimations being in the region of GBP 170M off original estimations.

Apparently the world wide credit crunch has not helped G&H being able to raise the delta funds.

This actually confirms my thinking about the "tension" at the club at the moment... and it all revolves around Parry.

As we know, Parry brought G&H in (Gillette bringing in Hicks to compete with the Dubai bid)... he worked with the G&H on the plans and budget, which are now screwed - to what extent it is not clear yet.

Parry obviously promised Rafa money for the January window, Rafa would not have been upset if that had not been made clear to him by the club - I.e. Parry, CEO and Rafa direct-reporting boss.

It is now apparent that Hicks is not a happy bunny - his investment is spiriling into controlled-mega-debt... hence his shut-up and put-up message to Rafa, see the picture?

Parry has not come out and back Rafa up... for this he can NEVER be forgiven... just explaining the circumstances would have been good enough, sh*t happens, but to shy away - put Rafa in the firing line and let Rafa take the media sh*t for a month of hell... is in my book unforgivable... his relationship with Rafa must be affected. Rafa is no fool.

Rafa clearly wants to build (damaged) bridges with G&H again - probably to have a communication direct-line with them rather than through Parry.

DIC always said that the stadium budgets were wrong, which is why the refused to up their bid... Parry managed this process... now it could have affected the manager, the players and the fans... the way Rafa has kept the place together this season (also considering the Pako episode) is VERY comendable ... but Señor Parry, that chap has a lot to answer for, for sure... particularly when you consider that Mr Moores must have given him a considerable bonu$ for brokering the buyer and making the Moores family considerably richer than yaaaauuu or me.

Let's hope the off field screw-ups continue to bring the team together, rather than the other way round...

I will sad to see the plans scaled back... to what 50k, 45k - not good... don't think I will be able to listen to another word Parry says without thinking it's a lie, an arse-licking antic or a back-stabbing strategy ...ever again.

Au contraire.  Do some of you people never learn.  Always believe every word the media says?

The media publishes an anti-Liverpool chairmen story the day before the reds play United with the new Chairman having crunch talks at Anfield?

      Stop swallowing boys and girls.

      Parry today said:

"We remain absolutely committed to the building of a new stadium which will improve on the original design inherited by Tom Hicks and George Gillett when they came into the club.

"It will have a capacity of around 70,000, be higher quality and have a substantially increased Kop which will form the centrepiece of the new plans.

"Ever since the original designs were unveiled, we have been continuously revising and refining with the intention of delivering the best possible solution to our future needs.

"The situation in the credit markets has not affected our design, programme, or implementation of building our new stadium. The priority has always been to build a winning team on the pitch and everything else we do is geared towards that."
