We need a good win to boost morale. And someone please remind Mr Gerrard not eat to too many bacon butties before the match as last time it gave him a dicky tummy. Ahem..

1-0 to us as I think Pompey will be a hard nut to crack, but we really do need the 3 points to stay in contention. Carragher to score from an SG wonder pass. Cmon you redmen

Everything goes wrong when I do a matchday thread, I did the first half of the 2005 Champions League final, the Carling Cup tie with Arsenal on an old forum. (Which obviously wasn't as good as this one) Then, my first one here we loose 2-0. So thats my reasoning. Maybe you should find out who did the second half of the final and use them.

I think my best ever result on a matchday thread (old forum) was a 0-0 with Deportivo Coruna, I think its my only ever draw.

But the problem with this though is I can't really see Kuyt or Voronin having near enough as much as an effect as Torres will. And the thought of having to rely on one forward to score goals is creeping in. Don't know about anyone else?

Spot on redkenny, that is starting to be a concern. When Torres has an off day, and I'm sure he will from time to time, we need someone who can look as dangerous in the area and create opportunities from next to nothing. The only player looking capable of that, apart from Stevie is Babel...but we expect him to play more games on the wing than as an out and out front man...

Hopefully we can get back to winning ways after the disappointment of the last 3 games,we cant afford to lose anymore ground on Utd and Arsenal.Pompey will give us a game but im going for a 2-1 to us Torres and Gerrard.

Can we get some more answers from injuries? I want to know if players are fit for games, and if Rafa is willing to play them, I want to see Rafa play Agger again, aswell as Xabi, I was just reading the hardest shot thread, and I realised we are due for a stunner like Agger's goal againest West Ham last year, to set Anfield alight.

I think we should give Portsmouth a taste of their own medicine, that is, play it tight and done let them have any room to move while we capitalise on their fragile defence. Rafa must use players who dare to run at their defence. Take a few shots outside the box and give calamity James some work to do while we hope to pound on a slip up. Besides that, it is frustrating to see some of players who tend to play it too perfect.

I would love to see something like:

            PR
      SF JC SH AA

      SG XA JM HK
              RB
           FT

With two men at the top who can get the defenders go cross eyed and hopefully RB will act as a perfect partner to Nando.

Haha! Where did he play when he was playing? He might fancy his chances against James.

Wasn't he a defender?  I'm sure he had 'possibilities' to play anywhere on the park?

To give you a quick score check, Arsenal are 2-1 up at the 78th minute, Keane had a penalty saved in the 60th minute or so.
