Gary McAllister Got A New Job
      Jan 30, 2008 03:39:31 pm
Leeds name McAllister as new boss
Leeds have appointed former player Gary McAllister as their new manager after Dennis Wise's move to Newcastle.

Ex-Scotland midfielder McAllister, 43, who played for Leeds from 1990 to 1996, has joined initially until the summer.

He also played for Leicester, Liverpool and Coventry, whom he managed for 18 months before leaving to care for wife Denise, who died of cancer in 2006.

McAllister, who won 57 caps, was in the frame for the Scotland job before Alex McLeish was appointed in 2007.

However, he pulled out of the running to succeed McLeish early on and George Burley got the job earlier this month.

Wise left the club on Tuesday after 15 months in charge, while assistant Dave Bassett has also departed.

Technical director Gwyn Williams will take charge of the game at Southend.

I reckon he deserves a big big good luck from everyone, when we got him on a free, many people including myself doubted his ability at his age.

       He did the following............

scored a penalty in the shoot-out victory over Birmingham City (league cup)

16th at Goodison Park. 94 minutes, we all no what happens next. 44-yards wonder goal is what happens.

A few  days later McAllister scored a penalty to secure a 1-0 win over Barcelona at Anfield to reach the final of the UEFA Cup.

Set up equalizer for Michael Owen in the Owen final. (vs Arsenal)

May 16th Liverpool beat Alaves 5-4 to win the UEFA Cup in Dortmund. Gary Mac scored a penalty and set up three others, which included the free-kick that led to the golden goal winner.

Wishing him all the best at leeds. Good luck Gary Mac.

Me too, Venison. hopefully one day he'll come back, I know he turned down a coaching role at Anfield, didn't he? because he said it was to soon after the death of his Wife, they used to live just up the road from me, she was a really nice person.

All the best anyway Gary Mc  :)

Looks like Gary could be back in the game as there are strong rumors he is crossing the pond to coach New York Red Bull of the MLS
