Xabi Alonso Player Thread

Xabi Alonso was like a dynamo his workrate was off the charts the man is an asset to LFC.

When I stop and think actually he has been phenomenal this season for us, I really don't know how he hasn't made it into the PFA Awards... but at the end of the day who cares, at least we know he should be in there.

He didn't make the awards because he doesn't play for manUre.
Out of seven nominees all but one play for the scum,they only included Stevie when somebody pointed out to Ferguson(who no doubt made the list up)that a bit of competition wouldn't be a bad idea, makes no odds anyway cos its the manc mafia running the pantomime.

Any seen the Rafa interview conducted for Revista? He said Xabi is a player he wants to keep. Made me feel a lot better.

How he is not in the nominations for PFA player of the year is a joke, I'm still waiting for someone to try and explain to me how Giggs has being better, I've being even talking to a couple of Utd fans and even they are suprised.

xabi has had a phenomenal season, has been consistently great. his passing, his composure and the way he controls the tempo of the game is a real asset for the team. brilliant season xabi!!!

Xabi's long passing is an asset to us. He gives us a new dimension, as responded well to critics and is doing brillant for us this season. Keep it up.

We have to make sure that Alonso stays with us long term,he was my man of the match against Chelsea and he is up there with the top midfielders.Some of his passes are out of this world and he should be recognised by his fellow professional footballers.

Alonso managed to score a goal against chelsea and had a good game. keep it up!

Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez has expressed his determination to hang on to midfielder Xabi Alonso.

The Spaniard was linked with a move away from Anfield last summer, when a number of clubs were understood to be interested in securing his services.

Benitez insisted it would take a 'massive' offer for him to part with Alonso and he was not tempted by a proposal from Juventus.

The 27-year-od has gone on to enjoy an excellent season, helping the Reds challenge for the Premier League title.

Speculation has surfaced that Real Madrid and Barcelona could target Alonso when the transfer window reopens.

However, Benitez has warned any potential suitors that he will fight to keep hold of Alonso.

"We had an offer from Juventus and asked a big price as he is a big player. They couldn't meet it," Benitez said.

"In the end, Xabi has been having a very good season. He has been playing well in a lot of games and is a key player for us.

"We have a lot of confidence in him and he is a player we want to keep because he has the quality, and the game, that we need."

So glad to hear that news about Xabi. I never want him to leave, really.

He's an absolute superstar is Xabi. He's brilliant. Top passer, and should have easily made the PFA award nominees, but hey, we all know its rigged by those manc clowns. He's been our second best player this year, slightly, ever so slightly behind Gerrard.
He would walk into any other top team in Europe, if he ever wanted to leave Liverpool. His partnership with Mascherano is crucial and they play well together. He has all the key attributes for an awesome midfielder, touch, vision, passing, reads the play beautifully, what a player

If we go on to win the league, I'd say he's been as crucial as Stevie in helping us to win it.

That speaks volumes in how good he really has been this season.

One of the best long range passers in the world! hes been on form lately...good thing he wasn't sold in the summer. U can see what an impact he has made to our attacking play. Very very important player to us

He's still being tracked by top clubs in Spain and Italy that he chooses to stay at LFC like so many other internationals is further proof of our managers influence and success ,not forgetting of course the allegiance they have with the club and the city.

Having an absolute blinder of a season, I'd even go as far as to say that he's playing his best football ever for Liverpool.
