Very modest man, went about his business without making a seen. Todays managers could learn a thing from Bob.

      Legend!

Bill Shankly spent his first Saturday afternoon in retirement watching his local home match, Everton vs Derby County. Meanwhile Liverpool were playing at Luton and when the press asked Bob what Shankly was doing this particular afternoon, he replied:
"He's trying to get right away from football. I believe he went to Everton."

As I was moving house I missed this. Grew up watching Bob's great teams, the man was a legend. Having to follow Shanks the messiah, not even really wanting the job, but what an achievement. The best thing about Bob was always knowing exactly when to move players along. I often think there is too much sentiment about players today. Bob being Bob the moment it was time for a player to be replaced he would be ruthless didn't matter who it was and rightly. The decision to change Ray Kennedy a striker into midfield was another masterstroke, Bob had the capability of reading a player's ability and getting the best out of him. Likewise the decision to swop Kevin Keegan for King Kenny.

The guy built two great teams who will go down in football history, winning league titles, European Cups, League and F A Cups. We all felt it would last forever.

The biggest tragedy was that at the end Bob didn't even get to remember what he'd done, which is why we as fans must never forget. R.I.P Bob, football's greatest ever manager.

Sir Bob was the spitting image of my Dad. He was everything that was good about being an Englishman understated ,reliable, steadfast.
Shankly used to look down the coach on his way to an away match to see if he could see 3 men he would want alongside him in a trench well Sir Bob would do for me.
For someone who didnt even want the job he didnt do so bad did he.

      Just heard the usual bollocks about Ferguson emulating Bob's record of 3 European Cups well got F***ing news for all those in the media;

Bob Paisley won three won three European Cups in 5 seasons not over a F***ing decade like that classless Scottish c**t up the East Lancs.

Bob never lost a European Cup final unlike that gobs***e Ferguson.

Bob won back to back to European Cups, something Ferguson has never done.

Bob won the League every year to get into the European Cup (76, 77 and 80) unlike that tw*t who finished 2nd last year and finished 2nd in 98 before their success in 99.

Bob Paisley won the European Cup three years after taking charge, not 13 like Ferguson.

So Ferguson emulating Bob? Not a F***ing chance.

Well said dls, there's no comparison between the two in my mind.

Can't even begin to imagine what honours our Bob would have taken Liverpool too had he not retired when he did.  And ferguscum has only won it in the easier league format.

It's a nonsense even trying to compare the two.

I'll grudingly acknowledge what that tw*t at the bog has achieved, it's a good record.  But he's been at it for F***ing AGES!  20 odd years eh, if our Bob had been in the job for as long as that old soak has hung around, we would be out of sight of everyone.

Bob Paisley was a gentleman and a magnificent football manager.  Twathead isn't either.  He's certainly no gentleman and he's only a good manager in my eyes.  And he's a F***ing horrible person.
