Manchester United chasing Berbatov...Fergie doing a Real Madrid?

Just saw this on BBC, wasnt he complaining about Real unsettling Ronnie through the media? Well it seems as though he's getting his own back.....AGAIN!

      Man Utd confident over Berbatov

Sir Alex Ferguson expects to prise striker Dimitar Berbatov from Tottenham by the end of the summer.

Reports have suggested the Manchester United boss has made a £22m bid for the 27-year-old but that Spurs want more.

"We have made Tottenham an offer on Berbatov and we have good expectations that this deal will go through," Ferguson told The Sun newspaper.

"Berbatov has been impressive for a long time and he would be a great addition to our attack."

Barcelona have also shown an interest in the Bulgarian following the exit of Ronaldinho to AC Milan and with Samuel Eto'o also set to leave but Ferguson is happy to bide his time over a player who scored 23 goals for Tottenham last season.

Speaking at the start of the club's pre-season tour of South Africa, the Scot said: "I think time will work for us more than against us.

"We will not stress this situation. We are hoping to have a constructive conversation with Tottenham in the near future."

Ferguson has also insisted any deal for Berbatov would not mean winger Cristiano Ronaldo moving to Real Madrid.

"We will handle the situation in the best manner," he added.

According to Portuguese television station RTP, Ferguson met Ronaldo in Lisbon on Monday in a bid to persuade the player that his future lies at Old Trafford but that was on the back of reports suggesting the United manager was unable to fit such a meeting into his busy schedule.

Portugal star Ronaldo was ruled out of the trip to South Africa because he had surgery on an ankle problem earlier this month and faces up to 12 weeks on the sidelines.

Meanwhile, Ferguson is confident that Owen Hargreaves will be fit for the start of the season in August, despite the United midfielder suffering a recurrence of the tendinitis problem that first surfaced at the start of the last campaign.

Hargreaves is also sitting out the pre-season tour but Ferguson insisted: "By the time we come back from South Africa, Owen should be okay.

"We have certainly not written him off for the start of the season. He will have a series of injections in his knee but I am sure he will be fine."

He wont get slated for it though will he, when its a player they want its totally a different story. I really cant stand that pillock! Rafa was getting criticised when he declared interest in Keane, he said nothing about having made a bid, yet sir purple nose says they have made a bid for berbatov and nothing!

I wonder why all of Tottenham's strikers are on the move or want to move?!
I don't know if Berbatov will go though, he's wanted to go for a while but never has.

Tottenham have reported us and the mancs to the premier league for tapping up Keane and Berbatov. Honestly this is becoming like a childrens playground, everyone is running off telling tales on each other. Expect to see Sir Purple Nose complaining about the complaint though because as we all know it is only him that can reoprt people!

Liverpool and Manchester United have been reported to the Premier League by Tottenham Hotspur following their respective interest in Robbie Keane and Dimitar Berbatov.

Spurs are unhappy with the conduct of their top-flight rivals following speculation linking Keane with a move to Anfield, and Berbatov with a switch to Old Trafford.

Reds boss Rafa Benitez has expressed his interest in Keane, while United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has spoken of his optimism of concluding a deal for Berbatov.

However, Spurs have criticised the two clubs, with chairman Daniel Levy feeling they have to take the matter up with the Premier League.

      Sheer arrogance
"Today's public comments by Manchester United's manager, announcing that he has made an offer for Dimitar and is confident that the deal will go through with time working in their favour, is a blatant example of sheer arrogance and interference with one of our players," said Levy in a statement on the club's official website.

"It is also probably one of the worst offences by any manager in the Premier League to date and is unbelievably hypocritical given his recent comments in respect of Cristiano Ronaldo and Real Madrid.

"This comes after a series of events, dating back to last summer, which have shown Manchester United to be in breach of Premier League (PL) rules. As a result, we have today made an official complaint to the PL about the conduct of Manchester United.

"Benitez made similar comments in respect of Robbie recently and we made an official complaint to the PL about the conduct of Liverpool earlier this week.

"The behaviour of both clubs has been disgraceful. We told both clubs very early on that we had no interest in selling Robbie or Dimitar, respectively, and that they should refrain from pursuing the player. Both clubs arrogantly chose to ignore this request and we now have evidence that both clubs have systematically been working to prise the players away from us, outside of PL rules of conduct.

      Negative influence
"Our subsequent position has been severely compromised by both clubs making their intentions widely known and indeed making contact with the players and their agents, without the club's permission.

"I have absolutely no wish to sell either player and to date we have not accepted any offer for either. However, when a player's head is turned and their commitment is absent, particularly when they occupy key positions such as that of striker, they become a negative influence in a team dressing room in which they were once a positive addition and influence.

"This is the situation we now have on our hands, with both Dimitar and Robbie having made it clear that they wish to leave for Manchester Utd and Liverpool respectively.

"Irrespective of the outcome and futures of Robbie and Dimitar, we are continuing to seek to bring in quality, talented players for the future, who want to play in a Spurs shirt."

Tottenham have reported Manchester United and Liverpool to The Premier League over the conduct in their pursuit of Dimitar Berbatov and Robbie Keane respectively.
The Premier League champions have confirmed they have made a bid for Berbatov, while Spurs have been stung into action again by Rafael Benitez, who announced last week in public that he wanted to sign Keane.

The Spaniard caused Tottenham displeasure when he said in 2006 that Spurs were ‘desperate’ to sell Jermaine Defoe and take Djibril Cisse.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has issued a statement on the club’s website which read: "Today's public comments by Manchester United's manager, announcing that he has made an offer for Dimitar and is confident that the deal will go through with time working in their favour, is a blatant example of sheer arrogance and interference with one of our players.

"It is also probably one of the worst offences by any manager in the Premier League to date and is unbelievably hypocritical given his recent comments in respect of Cristiano Ronaldo and Real Madrid.

"The behaviour of both clubs has been disgraceful. We told both clubs very early on that we had no interest in selling Robbie or Dimitar, respectively, and that they should refrain from pursuing the player.”

Another part of the statement read: "I have absolutely no wish to sell either player and to date we have not accepted any offer for either.
"However, when a player's head is turned and their commitment is absent, particularly when they occupy key positions such as that of a striker, they become a negative influence in a team dressing room in which they were once a positive addition and influence.
