I wasn't gutted as I think he had his time here but if the players we currently have with more ability than Dirk had his same desire then we might not have finished were we did last season.

I couldn't agree more. He was never the most talented player, but cannot be faulted for effort and work rate.

I wasn't gutted we sold him. I was sad to see him go because he had been such a faithful servant and Mr Reliable. However, how time had come. Sometimes two parties have to move on and remember all the good times. Dirk was fantastic and I am glad to see he is doing well at Fernabache. Always welcome back to Anfield.

Made up for him that he bagged a couple of goals. Though seeing as we are still yet to replace him I'm hoping it doesn't prove to be a mistake letting him go!

Can't remember whether or not I've posted in here since he left.

Thanks for everything Dirk. I remember being at Anfield for your debut and it's hard to think that you don't play for us any more. Not everyone agreed about your quality, but I think everyone would agree that of all the players to wear the red shirt over the past 10 years or more, you gave the most effort every time you put on the shirt. Absolutely loved the club and he was a true gent on and off the pitch. Wish there were more players like you around.

Almost feel like I'm choking up typing this so I'll conclude here.

Best of luck in everything you do from now on and you'll always have a special place in every red's heart.

I always used to think whenever i watched Dirk play that he never stops working hard! you see him everywhere on the pitch.  He was a very good team player and i've always loved him!

Looking like a fantastic career move for him. Was really sad to see him leave the club but it's great to see him scoring goals. Probably my favourite footballer ever. Don't think he was given ALL the respect he deserved from the media and even a lot of our fans. They don't come around too often do players like Dirk.
