The worst player was Bruno Cheyrou and not because he couldn't play but he could never come to terms with the EPL. I think Houllier once called him the new Zidane so he had huge expectation put on his young shoulders from the moment he stepped in to Anfield and he just wasn't up to it.

I can say Pelligrino and Xavier ... Diouf can be in the list too

I want to resurrect this in light of what's happened in the past couple of years. My top 5 worst players would be

5 Deggen
4 Traore
3 Diomede
2 Nunez
1 Kozma

Diouf. Massive waste of money for a very very very average footballer and thats being kind, one of the biggest dick heads to wear and disrespect the shirt too.

As footballers go though, for being the worst, in my generation then its erik meijer. He was awful.

Surprised Poulsen hasn't figured higher, considering it's Liverpool only he's been absolutely tragic.

Cant go past Nicky Tanner for me, the f**ker couldn't pass wind, cross the road or trap a bag of cement and his first ever kick of a ball was a header, and he missed it, his name just about sums up what he was worth... a Tanner, about 2.5p, Hodgson would have liked him tho, someone has to

I agree, bit insulting to the Stig to be in this list, Diouf was a grade a c**t and Redknapp was less strong in the tackle then Meireles but I wouldn't have Redknapp anywhere near this list.

Couldn't stand Traore I must admit and my scouse brother-in-law used to saw Jimmy's alright like as if he was scouse himself, used to do my head in, had the close control and ball trapping ability of a brick wall.

At the time Meijer was at the club, have a look at his influence over Owen. Encouraged him massively to close down the opposition further up the field. Plus he was a loon!

If he offered more away from the pitch then fine, but playing he was poor. Dundee, he was just crap - i will never understand that signing!

No.1 has to be Sean Dundee, still not sure why we even signed him and I don't recall him playing any more than a couple of games.  And Diouf, who should probably be number one really as he is a tosser.

Will have to have a think, but some of Souness's buys in particular were well dodgy.  And more recently, we had Konchesky who really should never have signed in a million years.

I won't say anything bad about Eric Meijer, as he used to enjoy roughing up Utd's defenders.

Stig wasn't bad, he was average. And you're right Squirrel, Eric was a bit of a nut case who hounded scum defenders like a mad man on the loose. here's a cracking section of an article that describes the man better than I ever could
