Jakub Błaszczykowski (Dortmund)

Polish international Jakub Błaszczykowski, 22, is linked with a move out the Dortmund exit door and into the Anfield limelight.

His versatility may be an attractive proposition for Benitez as the former Wisla man is equally adept at right back, right wing back, or playing on the right wing.

It is reported that Liverpool will fly representatives to Germany this week in order to thrash out a deal involving an expected £8million fee.

Hans-Joachim Watzke, Borussia's managing director, was dismissive about the prospect of losing Błaszczykowski when questioned by Sport1, he said: “We will not be letting him go. Not for €8m, nor for €18m.”

Very good player, he's only 22. Maybe rafa is looking to sell Pennant and this guy is the replacement, he is a very good player though, skillful and knows when to release the ball. Cant say i've seen huge amounts of him but of what i have seen he is very good.

Dortmund apparently dont want to sell but it is rumoured the managing director who said they dont want to sell has done it a few times before only to sell the player once an improved offer comes in.

Wont really win us the league this year. Be an improvement on Pennant because he does come in side and tracks back and bombs forward but wont really improve us too much this season.

8 million though is a great sum for him, he will grow. Reports in Germany are he is close to making the first side or the national team. I think we will reap the rewards in 2 seasons maybe because no one has come from Germany and had an immediate impact but he is a good prospect.

But how can you say that if you haven't seen him play for us, you can't jump to conclusions like that.

I have to admit that I haven't seen him play at all, but if Rafa believes that he might be good enough to play for Liverpool then we have to accept it.

No 8 million wont buy better, it could go to buying someone better but you wont find someone who is actually a prospect and one of his side's key players going for 8 million. James Milner is worth 8 million and Riera is worth 9 million and those guys wont improve on bloody bit, here's a kid knocking on the door of replacing Schweinsteiger and Podolski from he national side and you people dont give him a F***ing chance with out any knowledge about him.

He is primarily a right back so he is. I no a good bit about this player, and i think that he's a slight step up from Degan so i do, 8mill is a very reasonable price for him... but we dont need him because he is a right sided player, we need a left sided player

hes defo polish- he was in the poland squad for the euros- very good player- read about him in world soccer a few times last year and made a point to watch him in the bundesliga when a got setanta in- he impressed me and i think that 8m isnt much these days for a young talented winger
