How many players do we need?

how many players have we got now : we must have at least 4 full teams 4 lads for each position i think its bordering on the ridiculous, in the 70s/80s 16 players was enough for all competitions we must have 45+ players ffs, how are you supposed to keep them all happy and give them a game at least 30 of those will be bench warmers.
its bound to cause bad feelings amongst those with splinters in their arses. also with so many how can you have a settled side that know each other. madness?

Not much depth IMO. The impending exits of Pennant and Voronin will have an effect on our games when we need to rest some and play others.

I wouldn't really say we have that many 1st team players

we havent got enough experienced strikers- kuyt, torres and keae andthen a host of young players. If really need be, Babel can play there but i would perfer him on the right. So, say two of keane, torres and kuyt got injured, we are left with Ngog and Nemeth- two very good players but they have never really player with one another and dont have the necessary experience needed for the Prem/ Champions League

Can't agree more.  A lot of £5-6m players in there that would be more suitable in the blue half of Merseyside.   I heard on Sky that Rafa has spent £200m since his arrival on transfers - hard to believe when you see the squad in black and white, and even harder to believe when you consider that the liverpool lads (Gerrard, et al) don't even figure in the £200m.

I think we have enough players in deffence but we have just three strikers now:Torres,Keane and Ngog(he doesn't look good enough) and with Pennant out I think we should play Babel as a RW and to put Kuyt as a striker.Riera as a LW is good.

i said it a;ready say it again, we cant be contenders unless we have a second starting eleven. For us to be playing the same 11 players being rotated that leaves many uncertainties about the benched players. We need to have one team play the premiership interchanging at times and the other playing in the different tournaments.

I don't think our squad is too far off being able to land the " HOLY GRAIL ", but still think we need 4-5 more quality players. We are crying out for wingers, not sure about Riera, why didn't we go for Wright-Phillips? And we need cover in defence, jury is still out on Dossena!

I think your look at the Liverpool side is a bit simplistic.  A lot of players can play in different positions. Gerrard is very effective on the right wing for instance and Babel can do a job up front as well as on the wing.
