Robbie Keane has become the seventh Liverpool player to have his house burgled in the last two years.

His penthouse flat was broken into while he was away on international duty with the Republic of Ireland and an expensive watch and jewellery are believed to have been stolen.

Keane, 28, had been using the city centre apartment while house-hunting following his £20million summer move from Tottenham.

Over the past two years six Anfield players have been burgled while playing.

Club captain and England midfielder Steven Gerrard, 28, hired extra security after raiders broke into his Formby home last December.

Gerrard was playing in a Champions League match in Marseilles when four men broke in and confronted his wife Alex Curran.

Peter Crouch, now at Portsmouth, returned from scoring a double at Anfield in 2006 to discover burglars had been through his Cheshire property.

Poland goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek was targeted while on international duty in June 2006 and Dirk Kuyt was a victim in November last year when he was away with the Holland team.

It wasn't me.

Seems to be trendy amongst burgulars now - they're not considered a pro in burgling circles unless they have a Liverpool player on their list.

Still, it's more understandable they're robbing from our boys than the Everton ones. 

The police want to get SWAT teams lying in place for when the players are away.

Or the players get a bunch of headcase security guards to do the same.

I feel sorry for all the players that had been rubbed. Come on robby, now you need to steal manure the game by scoring the winning goal. YNWA

The thought of some stranger violating your home because he needs his fix is something that some people find hard to live with and because a guy has money is no excuse, but maybe it'll happen to the thief or someone who's close to him and I wonder then how would he feel...

Can guarentee they would'nt do it to Masch, Skrtel or Carra; they would hunt them down  and gut them like a fish

It must be the same people doing it surely, what are the chances of it only being liverpool players if it was different people each time.

It was probably Joey Barton trying to move up the pecking order for the next time he gets banged up.

It's a worrying trend this.

I reckon The Invisible Man has got it spot on with getting some headcase security gaurds in. It just seems inevitable that it will happen again in the future now.

Still I feel sorry for Robbie, but unfortunately we live in a world where people thieve. Hope he gets his stuff back soon and the thieves get caught and hung up by their bollocks and if they don't have bollocks then hang them up by something else.

To be honest after what happened with Alex Curran being confronted in their home when Gerrard's house was burgled, I thought the club were investing in security for when the players are away.

If I was Robbie, I'd be having a few words with a few bored provo's, since they have disbanded, could earn themselves a few quid!!!

I'm assuming you need to use the elevator to get to the pent house. No security in the lobby? no cams? This is ridiculous.

lols. i can imagine Skrtel doing that, but seriously i hav been robbed before. i was sleeping and the robbers broke in the house. it the worst feeling i have ever had. they had guns and you feel like shitt standing there in a boxers short front of ur gf and the robbers and you know you cant do anything. i agree with MsGerrard. the punishment should be like they have arab countries. just cut the damn hands off

Seriously though I thought Robbie was a credit when asked about it in the republic press conference and played it down as no big deal and it was all being sorted by the police. Quality. Didn't give the hack press any more headlines to write.

This type of thing isn't going to go down well either with us wanting to buy big name players, they're not going to look twice at our club through the fear of having theire homes burgled. I know i wouldn't no matter what and nobody else would either.

It's a Manc fan no doubt. I dont think it will be an Evertonian because it must click in their brain that it will harm their chances too of attracting players and it's harming their city's reputation too.
