Torres should return in March ;D. Let him have a good rest. Go to Dubai with his missus. Check out Stevie G's tower and secretly make a deal with DIC to buy Liverpool.

So we lose Xabi, Torres and Masch?

We're doomed. It could only be worse if we lost Gerrard and Carra.

Can I be the first to say:

      Calm Down, Calm Down.

Could be a blessing in disguise, he finally learn a lot more from the specialist about the best way to deal with the problem

And a good month's rest will do him no harm after all the football he's played this year.

We beat Man U without Torres and Gerrard. We've only got Torres and Aurelio missing, Skrtel will be back soon, time to look for positives!

      Spot on mate.

I'm more concerned about him getting rid of this reoccurring hamstring problem for good.

There's the rest of the team to chip in with goals and if we want to win the title - or more importantly, if the players themselves have any desire to win the title, then it's up to them to make sure we don't miss Torres as much while he's out. We wont be moving forward as a team if we're relying on one player to pop up with the goods all the time. We've seen that happen with Gerrard for too long.

They've got to step up and be counted and now is their chance. Like Tommy Smith said in yesterdays Echo - let's see a bit more bottle!

Well if its game over because you lose one player, no matter how good he is,well then it deserves to be game over. Sorry but if a squad of internationals fall apart because it loses one player, part of a team, then they arent good enough and dont deserve to be champions. I expect to see 2 or 3 men stand up now to be counted not 24 men to have a ready made excuse if they fail of fall apart

Welcome to the forum SueC. We could have done with Crouchie at the West Ham game, no doubt about it.

Not the end of the world.

Get another striker to partner Kuyt in January by selling fringe players.

The way I see it now is that our finishing situation is a lot more urgent than our defending situation - so forget any full-backs until Summer.

Gutted by this news   but at least he'll have a nice rest and hopefully put his hamstring problems behind him once and for all.

Rafa, hopefully you will consider giving Babel a sustained run up forward to see if he can cut it.

On a side note.....should we take a poll to see if I should delete the topic I started of 33 goals to go? Ever since I started this topic, the lad has been plagued by bad luck.  :f_wah:

      Get well soon Nando.

I have this horrible feeling that we might not see the Nando we saw so much of last season .The reaccuring hamstring injury is always going to play on his mind .And touch wood he is strong enough mentally to get over worrying about pushing it to hard and it happening again.

Gutted that this has happened but it will all come good again for Torres again soon.

Maybe now - well not maybe, definitely this is the (last?) time that several players need to stand up and be counted and show Rafa, the fans and the rest of the premiership the reason why they pull on a LFC shirt.......

It didn't look like we rushed him back. He looked okay against Bolton and Fulham.

Hope he gets back into the team and full of confidence again and score lotsa goals when he returns.

I think it's better for him to be rested longer and not rushed back and to only get the injury again. Might as well be 100% healed and help us get no 19 in the 2nd half of the season

its important if not vital for the lads and the teams season that he gets sorted now its a bonus that he doesn't have to travel half way across the country to prove to some nobhead that he and his manager are not liars and he is unfit for international friendlies.

RAFA: TORRES STILL ON COURSE FOR RETURN
      Steve Hunter 05 December 2008

Rafael Benitez today refuted claims that Fernando Torres will be out of action for longer than expected.

The Liverpool manager insists his Spanish striker continues to make good progress as he recovers from a hamstring injury sustained against Marseille on November 26.

"Fernando is progressing and improving so hopefully he will be back sooner rather than later," the boss told Liverpoolfc.tv.

"It's just a question of waiting and not pressuring the player. I was with him today and he was okay. He has a lot of confidence now, and when you have confidence, you can be fitter sooner.

"Everything is going well and I think it will be more or less the time we said before - maybe less."

El Nino, who was ruled out for two to three weeks after the Marseille clash, was back in Spain this week to see a specialist about his hamstring problem.

The manager revealed it was a very beneficial trip.

"It was just to confirm our diagnosis was right and that is the case," said the boss.

"The injury was a relapse of the one he had before. The specialist has known Torres for a long time and he also has a good relationship with our physios who are working hard with him.

"We are really pleased because we know the problem and now we can find a solution. We know we have to work hard on it and I think he'll be okay."
