We've had two really great results, with great scorelines!

We're scoring 5 without Torres, just imagine what the scoreline would be like when he's fully fit and at the top of his game.

I wasn't able to watch the match, so i can't comment on how particular players played.

Bring on 2009!! :kop5cf8koxp6: :scarf:

What can you say, other than it could have easily been 11-1 to us! Easily.

Shay Given done well in the first half but we could have been more clinical. We were just missing that final touch where it mattered.

But once our captain Gerrard stepped up and put the ball in the net, you just knew the goals were going to come.

As for the performance, I couldn't really ask for more. We absolutely bossed the game for huge periods and taught the geordies a big footballing lesson. Really good to see.

I thought the team selection was a bit of a gamble, but it certainly paid off. This is massive proof - like so many of us have said over the years - that when the players cross the white line, it's up to them to do the business. And they done that today.
It's hard to single anyone out for lot's of praise as it was a very very good team performance.

But I think that was Lucas' best game in a red shirt. Could have scored a hat trick, was all over the pitch, played very well when moved to the right and his first touch and passing was so much more sharp - the ball for Gerrards goal was pure class! Insua once again looking undroppable and he can play some brilliant balls into the box. Alonso when introduced was the king of the midfield straight away. Love some of those passes he done. Mascherano's presence was huge without him standing out. And most of all, our Stevie G scored a couple of great goals - two very important ones. I knew he'd get a couple today.

Without getting too ahead of myself, because I know there's still a long way to go. It seems like we are clicking smoothly into gear.

      The red machine marches on!

      A good game.

Insua and Lucas continue to grow into their own.

Surprised by the comment that Gerrard has never scored a hat-trick for LFC. His time will come.

Chelsea down at Fulham (1-0) This is a lovely year.

      MOTM - Gerrard.

Yeah, could do without the FA Cup coming up.

At least we've got loads of time to put our feet up at the top of the table though eh.  ;)

Just heard Lucas had a goal ruled out for offside. Was it actually offside?

      Apparently not..it was clearly onside!!

      Quite upset about that decision.

It was Ngog who scored it, but Lucas was the one they called offside - he wasn't.

Typical. By the sounds of it Newcastle got off lightly, could well have been double figures.

The worst decision this season, worse than Gerrard's V Stoke. Lucas was right in front of the linesman and the reverse view showing his angle on it showed his stupidity. I mean, you couldnt even see red for heavens sake, how was he given offside?

How about that, we're angry it wasnt 6-1 instead of 5-1 :D Can never please fans these days ::)

If it was 6-1 our goal difference would be better (even if just by one) ;)  :D

Extremely proud of the boys today, how well did we play? I know Newcastle were awful and their defence was absolutely abysmal, but we shouldn't take anything away from Liverpool today.

Top of the League going into 2009, how good does that feel  :)

Torres to come back, bet he can't wait, trouble is will he get his place back  ;)

Made up, will be celebrating tonight, get the champagne on ice.

Nice early birthday present for you RedKenny  ;D

Enjoy the rest of the day guys and girls, cos it doesn't matter what anyone else does today, we are still going to be top.
