Took delivery of mine, been on it pretty much all day. Okay then...so...let's just put the price tag to one side.
The Playstation 3 is the best games console ever released. I got a High Def tele in the January sales and have been itching for this machine since. The games I have are superb, playing online games are an absolute doddle - the machine can connect to your broadband either via an ethernet cable or wirelessly. All the PS2 games I have work fine on it, all the accessories - eyetoy - microphones (don't ask!) work a treat. You can put your Compact Flash, SD cards, USB sticks, USB keyboards, mice etc etc in.
The picture, and sound quality, is fantastic.
The online store is great - Gran Turismo HD is a free game (until May) which you download. There are tons of demo's to download (Formula One is indistinguishable from real life - seriously). Blu-Ray movie clips and trailers are also free to download. I have played online - you can instantly contact your 'buddies' if you have their user name. Browsing the internet is well smart. This forum works well on it!
I attached an iPod and it stored all the songs and album covers on to the PS3. It does the same with videos. The wireless controller works very well - very impressed with it - about half the weight of the original PS2 pad.
What else can I say.
Back to the price - it is on the expensive side, but considering the power of it, its sheer amount of connectivity to other media, the Blu-Ray drive etc etc - it's a technological bargain. Remember Sony are actually losing money on this console. If the machine was to be sold for profit it would be at least £1000. So, it's well worth £425. Don't expect the price to come down before Christmas - it just won't.
I would give it 11/10. And moves are afoot to convert some of the most popular PC titles on to it.
